| | | Re: Silly networks and TV providers.. And some people cut the cord/trash the dish and download from the internet in a way that content providers get their money. IE: Amazon, Zune, iTunes VOD like I do. All commercial free and I get to watch when I want as many times as I want. That alone makes it worth the price to me! | |
|
| | | At least those people are probably still paying AT&T for internet service! | |

AMC gets a hit show, the hit show makes them more money, the hit shows makes their channel more popular. AMC decides since they are making more money then they have the right to DEMAND even more money for the same content.
Dish sees all this and says no.

Can't we assume that maybe it's them?

Can't we assume that maybe it's them? It is them, they generally take the stance that they do not give in to extortion. "Pay us $$$ because FooCorp did!" is not a valid reason to increase customer rates. -- Say no to astroturfing. actions > Ignore Author

| | | Nothing really lost since AMC has a couple of watchable "hit" shows and IFC has become garbage (and not in HD). Netflix streaming for anything else.
I thought that Dish might give in like they did with the useless Weather Channel.
With the granularity of the Dish tuner/DVR features I've got nearly 100 channels blocked. One of the best features ever built into a receiver.

| | If they all cancelled AMC... then AMC and other cable channels might rethink this constant BS of raising rates every year. If you think the cable co's and satellite companies absorb this cost, you are sadly mistaken. Look for a price increase somewhere for AT&T's customers in the near future to cover the costs of this deal.
I am so glad I cut-the-cord years ago...

| | | Re: If they all cancelled AMC... you do realize that someone has to pay for those techs that go to everyone's house right? to maintain those lines? customer service reps? Content pricing are everything and nothing else is BS. Look at what ATT has to deal with then lets talk numbers. Supporting that entire work force is more than the cost of the programming. | |

Every industry has to support their overhead with their pricing. But very few, if any, have yearly price increases that are higher than the rate of inflation like the pay-tv industry does.
