| Re: If he is so talented Yes they can, I am just fed up with my kid's Elementary school for teaching Social Studies, Geography, Algebra, Health, Etc. before my kids know their times tables and can write complete sentences without being verbally scolded to do so. I guess I am old school, I expect them to know the basics before they learn how cranberries are grown and how cells are structured. I see stuff in their textbooks I saw in my college courses, yet the kids can't read their own sentence and realize it makes no sense.

| Re: If he is so talented Well, a while back, someone decided that teaching proper grammar was a thing of the past. I haven't had an actual lesson on grammar or spelling in school for as long as I can remember (I'm a high school senior now). The only reason I can read and write as well as I can today is that my parents started me at the age of three. Apparently the idea is that students will learn grammar from their reading and from being corrected when they make mistakes in papers they write. I can tell you right now that this is bullsh!t, because 90% of the kids in my grade couldn't form a proper sentence in Standard Written English if you put a gun to their heads. | |

Sorry for ranting LOL Kids don't write complete sentences because they don't feel like writing them out all the way since they usually have tons to write. It's not because they're not able to. If you know you have 30 spelling words to write 3 times, you don't want to waste your wrist writing every sentence completely. Don't you remember what it was like to be a kid?

| Stupid Congrats BBR, you just gave this guy what he wanted most -- exposure. Why do you think he was Googling it in the first place? He actively WANTS to be associated with it. He wants a rep.
Why not just let the illiterate fool rot in obscurity, which is precisely what would drive him the most insane?

| Re: Stupid I believe he was pointed to the thread after the story was posted, Either by email or his Yahoo IM id that was listed.
There wasn't much on Google at the time he posted, and he did not have much of a reason to search it.
I also believe that he was/is at the cafe, as his emails came from more than one IP in the range.
I believe the publicity is beneficial, he was been doing this for a while, and he maybe part of a group. The chances of phishers being charged by law enforcement is remote at best, and maybe the publicity will hasten his demise.

| Actually, I doubt that scammers want exposure. They would prefer to operate in the shadows under the radar of law enforcement and the public consciousness. As long as they do that, they can fool people into thinking that their sites are legit and they can continue to scam money from the hapless users. The minute that their scams are brought to light, pressure increases from law enforcement and, more damaging to them, it becomes harder to fool people. The more attention their scams get, the more people will be on the lookout for them and the less people will fall for them.
This guy claims that his aim is to eventually get a job in IT, but no (legitimate) company that I know of would risk the bad PR of hiring a known crook like this. So go ahead and publicize this guy's scams. It'll ruin his scams now and ruin his chances of parlaying them into an IT job later. -- -Jason Levine My Gallery | Jason's Toolbox | PCQandA.com | URateit.com

| You'd be surprised in who the FBI, and other feds will recruit. And they do. And some are actually pretty good.
If you are in a place where you are good at something, and really good (or atleast rough enough) and someone notices, you could be real useful. Look at ukraine and some slovak proggies. Mafia sees them as golden geese. Get to them before the law enforcement does.
Who knows, with proper direction and education, they could be useful. I mean, how many of you are self-made scammers that are under the radar, not paranoid, doing someting for your country, supporting loved ones and able to prove the income is legit?
Just sayin.;) | |
