Offer ending on February 16...
(old news - 04:35PM Friday Jan 25 2008)
tags: business · telco · HDTV · Verizon FIOS
For some time, Verizon has been offering triple-play FiOS customers in a number of markets a free 19-inch liquid-crystal display HDTV. We know 19" sets might as well be betamax players to many of you, but users already considering new triple-play service and in the market for an extra set might be interested to note that Verizon is extending the offer until February 16.

The deal is currently running in select markets in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Texas, Indiana, Florida, California, Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware and the Philadelphia area. Verizon on Monday should update us with new FiOS subscriber numbers as part of their fourth quarter earnings report.

Re: 19" TV

Yeah the problem for better or worse is if you want to watch an HD *signal* on a 19" TV you'd be hard pressed to notice any benefit really. And realistically it would be even harder to see stuff unless you were sitting really close vs watching standard def.

I have a 50" Plasma and a 19" standard def CRT. From a normal viewing distance I couldn't imagine watching HD on the 19" as it would make things too small!

It would work fine for a bedroom TV or something. That's what I plan on using it for.

Only avalible for some.

I bet there wont be any incentive once FiOS is around NYC, I've been waiting the longest. And probably gonna wait another 6-8 months sadly.

I'm an hour south of you and have no prayer of ever getting FiOS, or any FTTH product for that matter; I'm in Frontier territory!

What sux even more is that FiOS is actually just a few miles east of here, in the Town of Newburgh. Ah well.

Believe me, you haven't been waiting the longest.. Just hang in there, you'll get it eventually. NYC is tough because of the MDU problem. There will be an incentive, there always is... It might not be a TV, but it might be a $200 gift card or something else.

Well soon the offer is going to change to a digital camera after the TV offer expires....

After the camera promotion it will be a new desktop PC. The brand of the PC is TBD.

19"

This would be a perfect replacement to the 15" LCD TV I have now for my dog in his room. Alas, no FiOS where I live.

I think they would be better off putting their money into expanding FIOS service.

computer monitor

When I get my 19" Tv from Verizon it will replace my 15" flatscreen computer monitor. I also have cable outlet where the computer is, so I can still use it for basic digital cable as well.
