All kidding aside, I always found the Sealand story to be an interesting one. It took a brass set to do what this guy did, and stick with it all these years. It shows a pioneering spirit that has been lacking since the mid 20th century.
Not only that, that old platform and it's inter-workings are cool from an urban spelunking standpoint... -- Never ask what sort of a computer a guy drives. If he's a Mac user, he'll tell you. If not, why embarrass him? -Tom Clancy

My cat is a barn cat from Nottingham, Chester County PA. My sister brought him home one day back in the early 90's. I all ready told her that when he dies, she's showing me where the barn is, and I'm getting one just like him. -- Never ask what sort of a computer a guy drives. If he's a Mac user, he'll tell you. | Ad sponsored island? Is it just me or is their flag (per the Wikipedia link in the article) very very close to NetZero's logo? :P
Flag

NetZero logo (changed to link to cut back on cookies) »www.netzero.net/img/www/b/logo_nz.gif

| Wow this is so 90's I remember when Wired magazine had a piece on Sealand a long time ago. Talk about bringing back the dead. Sealand was pretty much going to print money when it all was said and done. Too bad, it seemed like an interesting idea.

But you're right about the data haven being '90s.

Yes. Perhaps you will. In the meantime, you'll continue to laugh at dumb stuff. We all learn, eventually. Some people are just too easy to entertain. Just ask the writers for all the dumb sitcoms on TV. You know...The ones with the laugh tracks that "everyone" loves? like Seinfeld, Friends, etc?

So let me see if I have it right: I've been laughing at stuff that I thought was funny but since you've pointed out that these stimuli are in fact NOT funny, have I been really laughing? Boy, I clearly need someone to set me straight. Can you recommend some funny things? You know, to laugh at so I can be sure I'm really laughing?
But wait! If I HAVE been laughing all this time, then maybe the stuff I thought was funny really was!? Whew! This humor thing is hard work!

Look at all that rust...Ahhh! The salty sea air, dontcha just love it? It might be nice IF it doesn't spring a rust hole and sink, or have another fire from a overworked generator. They might even be able to rent it to pirates...
