LA Expands Public Wi-Fi Network
Four new districts...

MuniWireless reports that Los Angeles will expand their public Wi-Fi network -- $225,000 in contract extensions and enhancements aimed at building out the network to four additional city districts. Some additional Wi-Fi security cameras will also be installed as part of the deal. The service currently provides access in Pershing Square. Plans call for extending it to the financial district and historic core, Bunker Hill and Little Tokyo, according to the report.

I didn't know we even had a public wifi network

This is new to me. And why Pershing square? It should be the financial district from the beginning. For those who don't live here, Pershing square is full of homeless bums, you won't find anyone whipping out their laptops over there. I just want muni wifi for the rest of the ciiy, I would even pay money for something.

This is totally new to me too. I frequently take the Red Line to the Pershing Square stop on my way to Two California Plaza.

But do you use your laptop in Pershing Square? Or rather...would you?

In a parked car, with my tinted windows rolled up and doors locked. The only other community near me with free muni acces is Culver City, I feel a lot more comfortable over there.
