| From what I understand, the redesigned chip will be smaller (cheaper, built on a 65 nm process rather than 90) and likely faster (although games won't take advantage of that or else old systems would not work well with new games). The new 360 hardware will basically be the finished version that, I imagine, a lot of people would prefer over the somewhat hot/buggy version out right now. | |

| I picked up a Wii for the kids. My 12 year old played it for 6 hours straight and then my Wife and me played it for a couple of hours(boxing wore us out). I was very surprised at how well it works, I thought it would be gimmicky but it is very accurate. It was a huge hit with all the company over on Thanksgiving. I think Nintendo is on to something here, not just a fad. I also have a modded xbox and a 360, I can see many people buying the 360 for their HD fix and the Wii for their innovative gaming fix, all for the price a PS3. When Super Smash Brothers is released for the Wii early next year, it will sell a hell of a lot of systems. | |

Does not follow. The dollar and the pound are not on par with each other. If they were on sale here for 200$ and on sale in London for £200 a person could become rich overnight through the grey market.

They pay £14.99 for that new CD, £59.99 for that wireless router, and make £10/hour (typical starting wage I would assume). We pay $14.99 for that new CD, $59.99 for that wireless router, and make $10/hour. Of course it wouldn't be an exact conversion as such, but it's not far off. -- huh?

| Re: Price in story is in pounds, and NOT dollars Yes. I am in the process of buying a LCD TV in Europe, and I'd say 95% of the models have a PAL/SECAM/NTSC tuner built-in.
Most even have both S-Video and SCART ports as well as RCA inputs, even my $120 30 inch CRT TV does. So I'd say that the percentage of people in Europe that couldn't connect a NTSC source would be rather minimal
I'd venture a guess that the problems might come more from the power cord that has to be changed than from the TV standards -- "the two most abundant things in the universe are Hydrogen and stupidity." (Harlan Ellison)

They'd be smart to bundle a free game with it too; would make bad memories of non-available PS3s fade faster IMHO. I agree with the free game. Someone at M$ Marketing should realize that a free game is a win-win, especially for parents. Even if they have to up the price by $25. It is a pain to buy a game separately after kicking out $300+ just on the console. It doesnt have to be a M$ Gold tier game like Halo, but maybe a mid-tier game title. | Wii is the only one that... worth considering as a next-gen console. Its completely newly invented control system speaks for itself - 360 and PS3 is nothing but a nice upgrade of the old, boring console phenomenon. Higher-res graphics (boohoo, PC games had so-called "HD games" ever since), integrated movie player, faster, nicer etc and pretty much that's it. Nothing to be amused by - as a reviewer put it last week the Wii offers at least twice the fun for half the price.

I've observed all 3 consoles and the one console that's really pushing hard to give gamers everything it can is the 360. I know it's had a significant head start. But seriously, I think Nintendo is going to pull ahead of Sony with its Virtual Console whatever, and I think Microsoft is going to lead the pack this time, and will continue to do so UNLESS Sony can give 100% Backwards Compatibility. That's about the only thing Sony can use to its advantage that the 360 fails in. This is all my opinion, of course.

You don't have to distinguish yourself when you've got a 1 year lead, and lower price point while having what what effectively are better looking games(cause they're all ports and PS3 is a pain to work with). The console that needs to distinguish it self is the PS3 and you don't do that by losing all your exclusives and launching with so few units that no one will be advertising them until well after Christmas. Sony, despite all the noise they've tried to make to the contrary, is playing catchup and this botched launch isn't going to help them do so. -- Early to rise, early to bed; Makes a man healthy but socially dead.

| MS will release a new rev model in 2007 From a Digi-times article sometime ago, MS was going to replace the 90nm with a 65nm die IBM PPC CPU(3 core). This would make it run cooler and the updated ATI chipset was to work better with 1080p and HDDVDs.
Rumors until proven onsale.
Besides, you should read the xbox gaming forums. The failure rate of 360's freezing and "red ring of death" are starting to be more than just a few wolf cries. Matter of fact, after CoD3 (lousy game btw) froze mine, I started to investigate matters and now have to consider walking in and exchanging the unit. Which is something I don't want to do yet. Someone I know told me that they are 6-8 weeks behind on refurbs back for warranty issues (MS returns direct). One fellow got his replacment only to have the unit not read DVDs.
It's quite a sum to invest (360, PS3 or Wii) when you count the controllers, the games ($60!!!), the accessories and micro-payments on Live. A typical console will come close to $1000 when you through in 3-5 games, another controller, wireless networking, and online downloads.
For those complimenting the Wii, yeah, Nintendo's Wii is a game console for everyone. $250 is about the same as an iPod.

| xbox, xbox 360 and ps2 well i have those consoles at the moment. i would like to say few words about them.
xbox : most of you might think its outdated but is the stable console which i've seen till date, with good graphics and connectivity. it never hung, stuck or whatever between a game.i believe xbox is the best package till now.
ps2 : its outdated. good thing about this console is wireless gaming and many games are available in the market. i feel that there are too many controls on the controller. graphics are'nt that great when compared to xbox.
xbox 360 : i like wireless gaming and 360 is perfect for me as of now. gameplay is awesome. but but but....... it makes me angry when ever the console freezes in middle of the game. on an average it happens around 3-5 times in a week. no other issues... 360 is offering demo games online, which is attracting me to download them and try them out before buyin..lot of other stuff which can be done on 360. i would like to use xbox with all those features than 360. and about xbox 360 pricing.. it will definetly drop i guess.
ps3 : ok it will be a good console. i seriously hope it wont freeze in middle of a game, if so then its not worth. i mean both 360 and ps3.
