| BBR's http://www.dslreports.com/phishtrack BBR (»/phishtrack) has had one for some time, and I forward them as I can. But as the CNN article stated, time wise, it's easier for user to simply delete the phish rather than take the extra couple steps to forward it.
As far as CNN's comment of : quote:

Those who have enough of a clue to report sites will know the phish-vs-regular-spam distinction. And hopefully these contributors, plus automatic (tentative) detection by a-v and similar security applications will keep the database up to date.
It's going to be volatile and high-maintenance because phish sites come and go quickly.
I was wondering what the business model will be. Charging commercial users once it takes off?
Also it will probably feed into their "open DNS" (so called) service. That service is very flawed (see other threads, especially Slashdot where they exposed what's wrong with it very thoroughly). However, if it provides enough commercial incentive to keep the "phish tank" going, this could be a good thing. | |

1 edit | Netcraft Toolbar is an alternative Another option is the Netcraft Toolbar. It blocks known phishing sites and if you run across a phishing site that is not blocked, you can report it with a click or two.
The toolbar also shows vital statistics for each page (Country, ISP, age of site, etc.), so if that paypal site shows a Romanian flag, you can draw your own conclusions, even if it is not yet blocked.  | |

| When phishers are caught... Despite finding the phisher and shutting them down, they only get slaps on their hands for doing their wonderful deeds IF they're caught. That's another reason people don't bother. They might get shutdown for a month or so but will only spring up as another scam, and if they get caught they're out shortly or run on bail to start again. How about holding them and once proven guilty they're capitally punished? What's the point on holding on to the scum of the Earth when there's no social gain in doing so? Social scum in this case equals the social and economic leaches that are phishers. | |
