All i saw was a dude in a red shirt and shorts. Is there something in this video thats suposed to tell me that its a comcast tech?
How does shit like this make it to the news page?
hey, let me know if i can make the front page with this news bit....

| Re: Ain't never seen nuttin' lak it a'fore On "Good Morning America" this morning they had the cable guy clip on there. I just saw the rest of the story mid-way thru and Comcast DID say he was an employee that now is unemployed. Comcast also said the problem the tech was working on took 5 hours to figure out by a team of techs Comcast brought to the guys house in order to fix the issue. What does that say for the tech that got fired? | |

| Comcast is not allowed to wear shorts while working due to injuries (poison ivy ect).. They wear pants and a shirt that says comcast. In house techs also do not wear red shirts.. They come in gray or black with the COMCAST LOGO ON THE UPPER LEFT OF THE SHIRTS. Personally that sleeping man looks to be more like satalite or even just made up. | |

First off, comcast does sub-contract out alot of their work and every time I have had someone come over to do work on my internet, its been a comcast van but the guy has worn whatever he feels like it (few times jeans and a tshirt, other times shorts).
Second, sometimes they will use your furniture if its taking FOREVER. I dont mind if a comcast tech sits on my couch, big deal. And although my tech didnt go to sleep, he was sitting on my couch on-hold with comcast for well over an hour trying to have them check something on their end.
Yes the video could have been faked and I havent seen a comcast rep use a laptop on-site before, but whatever. If it was faked oh well...but I am sure a scene that the video depicted could very well happen.

Are you saying that everyone that works there is like this, because if so, you've got to be kidding. Thats why there is more subs on Comcast than Verizon. Love your profile, but this was a stupid comment, only because you've probably never worked the way an on-call tech in the field driving all over the city would have to work. All it takes is air-conditioning, and one good hour on hold music to put anyone to sleep after being in the heat all day. It very well could have been a tech, it could have been a shirt someone found in a thrift store and purchaed to stage this, or who knows.
It's sad if it's true for many reasons.

I could get my brother to fall asleep on my couch and film him as a cable employee and no one on ther internet would know any different. Proof please? Clipboard with work order? Comcast truck outside? Anything? For some, not even an offical ID would be enough.
There was a person on here who claimed to be a Comcast tech who said that if he ever had a customer filming him with a video camera, he would pack up all his tools and leave the job without doing anything. IF this is true, guess the guy had no choice.
Now, another thing. I have had a few visits by Comcast and NOT ONCE have they ever sat down in my house or apartment. They always stood or went on one knee. One helper did sit on the stairs but that was it.

I know when I have had the cable techs out, they have all been in uniform, which included pants. I've had a Cox cable tech come out to do test on my brother's line, and the dude had on jeans, t-shirt, and a flaming Harley Davidson cap. No uniform, or anything signifying him as a cable tech. Most techs I know would gladly leave the house and move on calling it a cancelled job, OR, would call dispatch or the customer on the work order. Can't say that any tech would fight you to change your box when you say no for what ever reason. Maybe your idea of taking alot of convincing is something like this:
Him: "I am E* with comcast to change your box"
You: Sorry, you must have the wrong house.. I don't even have comcst service"
Him: Is this xxx Street?
You: Yes
Him: Sorry.. my mistake or "wrong house"..

...and just like the very video that was posted just has to be true because the author of the video said so too, huh?
Just goes to prove my point that people will believe what they want to.
Also, while I am at it, there is something to be said about people who air dirty laundry of others, isn't there...
We all know that pretty much anyone that is in business will ultimately have unhappy customers. Can't say there are many out there that haven't had a customer they upset... we all know that it a fact of life. Now, when people go through this effort to try to make someone else look bad and claim that in two weeks that comcast is such a horrible company, maybe it simply lends to the type of person this guy really is.
If in fact this person fell asleep on the sofa and in in fact that the sotry of the tech that wouldn't go away are true, well, there are still many satisfied people out there that never have a problem with their service. This statement can be said for every business out there who deals with the public. (The fact is, if you suck that bad, you won't be in business for very long)
So, I am glad you took the time to come in, as many like to here, and find the one path of least resistance in a post and try and nail it to feel better about themself as if they scored one up. Fortunately, the odds are on myside on my comments.

I have said it before, and I will say it again. No one here has any business calling anyone biased. You yourself, for example, are biased on the other side by default or you would not have made that silly claim.
I think many people on this site are perfectly capable of drawing their own conclusions and forming their own opinions. If people believe otherwise, then I think they are too paranoid and need to take on a new hobby.

There are reasonable biases that come from experience, but we're still talking about you not believing believing JTRockville about the incident he said happened to him, right? Based on "I don't know of any tech out there that would..." and "Most techs I know would..." ? Is that a reasonlble bias in your estimate? It seems a little fanatic.
Aren't we also talking about you calling a video fake based on the fact that fake videos CAN be made ("Nice how we can make what we want up when a camera is rolling sometimes. "). That's a big conclusion to jump to without some proof of your own.
You did tell me that you are not a cable PR person and that's good enough for me, but your overly protectiveness when it comes to the cable companies compromises your credibility.

Repeat a few more times. * shrugs * He did eventually leave, but not until I asked him to remove the drop. Unfortunately, he left the drop there. By the way, my house number is written in 8 inch numbers right above the doorway. If he wanted to confirm, he didn't have to say "Is this XXXXX?". All he had to do was look. It was simple mistake. But in order to correct a mistake, you have to be willing to admit you made one. I guess denial is ingrained in Comcast's culture. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That tech could have thought, "if this work order says xxx street it has to be right" and the tech thought that the person at home is a stupid blonde or technophobic that doesnt even know what cable tv is or what Comcast does as a business. All certain people know is that is works, and how to use it to pleasure themselves, thats it. I can definetly see a house wife thinking "we dont have Comcast, we have Cable TV", or the husband arranged it (who is at work) and the wife doenst know anything and takes a overprotective parnoid view on everything except her "beautiful children". Or the person answering the door may be the wrong person, or a retard (litterally), and not the caller or the account holder, and the door answerer maybe taking stuff into his hands which he doesnt have permission. Or for example, a water meter checker comes and the person who answers the door says "we dont have a water meter, go away" since they never saw a water meter or knows what it looks like. Basically, the tech could have thought the door answerer is ignorent or doesnt trust him or has issues in her head and the work order must be right.

| Um, who said there isn't a special line that techs call? Because there is... they call the LRC to navigate the different tech / dispatch departments. However, like ANY que, they have to wait in line with other techs trying to get at the 20 dispatchers. When there are 350+ people in the field a day, there can be a wait. | |
