Verizon Mail Issues
Redux
On the heels of a class action settlement from the last time they instituted a major anti-spam solution, our users are reporting new mail delivery issues with Verizon. According to a post over at Slashdot and newsgroup discussion, it's due to the implementation of new spam filters. Can Verizon customers confirm?

From the company that bought you the comment -

In the previous round of stupidity, where they blocked almost all overseas email, I seem to recall one of their PR folks stating "if you want to be sure the message gets through, its best to make a phone call"!
Give VZ email a VERY wide berth. Their email admin guys are truly the most clueless.

Yeah they state that cause they will make a nice little profit from you for calling overseas all the time to check on an order or to place an order for something.

Yesterday I actually had something bounce from Amazon, which never happened before.I'm pretty new to Verizon (with them for about 2 weeks now)---isn't there someplace they deposit mail tagged as spam so that you can review it?

HAHA!!! Is this affecting FIOS customers too?? Either way, I don't know why people use their ISP's mail anyway. I use G-Mail for the storage, plus the fact I don't have problems with it EVER.

I had an issue with vz blocking some yahoo mail sent directly to me. After talking to tech support and the email department telling me I had a virus and that was preventing me from getting mail and to upgrade the definitions. I went to a reliable mail store.

Why would us use a ISP centric e-mail?

Why in the age of Google, MSN and Yahoo mail, would anyone tie up their e-mail account to an ISP. If you leave the ISP, you loose your e-mail account.

Sheesh

Yup, I got stuff bounced back from Verizon addresses yesterday. A resend today seems to have made it through though. VZ is my ISP but I don't use their email.

No blockage problems for me; I'm still getting ALL my spam!

I am a Verizon DSL customer and use their email.

Last night I emailed a friend and it bounced back with "no such recipient". Mail he sent to me bounced back to him blocked by Verizon's "spam" filter. A resend early this morning went through ok.

The funny things is that last night while wrestling with the blockage I got several emails from online pharmaceutical companies disparaging my manhood and offering to sell me something to fix all my problems.

Got V?

Though I don't actually use their email service (I have account for FIOS), I that even a day after the account was activated, I was getting one or two spams! Never even used the damn thing! So I filter it all locally...

Verizon mail issues

All of a sudden in the last week a person from whom I get daily emails with a nyc.rr.com account is being blocked from sending me email due to Verizon spam filters. Previously I had no problems....WTF??

Example of why you should never...

use email through your isp. I never will because I never trust any isp with mail service.

blocked me 2

verizon is my isp (fios) but I also would never use their email service. They blacklisted my SCHOOLS (.edu!) mailservers! I filed the whitelist thing at the bottom of the email, and within about 24 hours they emailed me back saying it was fixed and they whitelisted the mail servers... How dumb can they get - I don't think many spammers are educational institutions.

.edu servers (or any server) can be hacked and become a relay for spam....
