According to the Associated Press, Internet video will be the dominant player at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which begins Wednesday. With IPTV and place-shifting technology coming on strong, with Google, Yahoo & Microsoft playing major roles, the report claims "nearly 40 percent of TV network executives surveyed recently by IBM Corp.'s business consulting service said they feared major competition from Internet portals in the next five to seven years."

Las Vegas CES is platform for new products

The annual CES is always a smorgasbord of new product announcements. With the internet and video becoming more prominent every year, this years show should highlight what is coming along from the major players in that field. It will be interesting to watch what is announced day by day this week.

once portals begin with iptv where it can be sent to a stb with a small browser to help search for it and with good quality many of the most profitable news services will be useless to the companies unless they offer better news on their sites.

That was cruel and unusual duty for Dick Clark, alone in a studio with a wide and far shot... they really need to get some new talent at ABC!! Going to have to find some other channels to look at from now on, abc has all but lost me...

The show itself actually starts Thursday morning, not Wednesday as stated in the article above.

Wednesday there are various Seminars, etc.
