Sprint Matches Verizon's EVDO Price Drop $60 unlimited if you're a mobile phone user Last week Verizon announced that they had lowered the price of their unlimited EVDO wireless broadband service to $60, provided you were a Verizon wireless phone subscriber. Though Sprint is still trying to deploy service, they've apparently matched the price drop, notes the Kansas City Star. Like with the Verizon price-drop, you only get the $60 deal if you're a Sprint wireless phone user.

It's a ridiculous price point.
Verizon Wireless customers with an EVDO phone pay "only" $45, but that's equally ridiculous for sporadic web browsing and e-mail for a phone.
Unfortunately, to keep Verizon's superior cell coverage in a "converged" device, that's the insane price Verizon gets away with charging (and for even simpler BlackBerry use too!).

join:2000-10-28 | Re: Highway Robbery Well, exactly. If it were entirely out of pocket, I couldn't see ordinary business users, let alone personal users, even think about jumping on EVDO at these levels. $20 is the right number.
And the $45/$60 is on top of VZW's fantastically high voice plan charges too.
By the way, from what I've read VZW is more than willing to crack down on those who dare to use their phones as modems on the $45 plan. With the limited EVDO coverage (and user base) I've seen, it seems awfully premature. But when it works it's indeed awesome.

I agree that VZW and Cingular (who is still charging $80/mo for EDGE!!!) gouge PDA users.
Most of the Treo and BB users I know are on SPCS and T-Mobile (I'm on the latter), and the few that are on Cingular are considering switching to T-Mobile No one I know dares use a PDA on VZW because of the gigantic gaps in their data coverage...

Clarksburg, MD | there is a way to get it for $20 per month it's $45 a month unless you have one of the new Max plans, i paid $149 for 4000 min and only $20 per month for unlimeted ev-do data. got a $10 usb data cable on ebay plug the cable into the phone and laptop and use the phone as a modem. The only downside is you can't use the phone while you using it as a modem. | |

WIDE-OPEN!! Why on earth would you pay $45-60, when your most likely getting bombarded with 2.4ghz wireless a,b,c signals practically screaming "FREE INTERNET HERE!"
Now, my gripe with cell phone companies..
why not unlimited text messaging/email for $5 or free with plans of a certain value or higher (say $49.99).

| | | | Re: EVDO,DATA Well I'm one of those users of such a service, although I go through Nextel (I HATE THE SPRINT TAKEOVER), and I pay for this service out of pocket. Why, might you ask? Because this enables me to do my work as it should be done... researching my work and e-mailing completed field reports back to the office while I'm driving to the next site. This makes workflow about 20% more productive. So until either Clearwire (or equivalent) or some new-highly-funded WiMax carrier provides a better blanket of coverage for mobile full internet access, I will tolerate (and appreciate) the effort put forth to give me 56k speed (none of them stay above 56k while in motion) net access anywhere I want/need it.
P.S. My service with Nextel is $54.95/month and this includes Free HotSpot access also, which means I not only have Free Wifi Access -- but I also can sit inside a Starbucks and not get gouged 1$/hr @ 1 hour minimums by T-Mobile or those hundred other HotSpot providers. | |

so i have to ask,, how do you maintain a signal? and have u had your speed upload and down load checked out.
I just purchased mine yesterday and set it up and slow, slow, slow, and signal comes and goes.
did u have problems at the beginning with yours. mine is nextel wifi.
