| The mtv/vhq coverage is the worst piece of crap I've yet to see on TV. More commercial interruptions than ever, constant crap backstage interviews, almost NO music, and worst of all WHY IN GODS NAME ARE VH1 and MTV SHOWING EXACTLY THE SAME THING. | Yeah, it is pretty lame. I thought they might split the load betweem MTV & VH1 so we could see the live world-wide picture better. At least show London on one channel and Philly on the other. This coverage is really nothing like Live Aid in '85. Tons of commercials and...isn't this supposed to be "Live"?
I can't believe I'm complimenting AOL but they're doing a great thing today. Not sure why MTV and VH1 missed the boat so badly on this.

Why not give a dollar to help people in their own countries. Ugh. I, for one, do not want any tax dollars I paid that were LOANED to Africa to just be "forgiven". Why don't banks forgive loans of working families who can't feed or get medical care for their kids? I'd rather give my money to people like this in my OWN country. Sing about THAT, why don't you?! And well did you donate to anything local? If not, I really think your yammering on is silly. The whole idea of Live 8 is to end poverty everywhere. I don't think it's pukey because usually the rich and famous have the most chances at being heard, and they are doing something positive with it on this day.

Edit: Actually the whole idea of this is to push the "eight great men" into voting to forgive Africa's debt to all their countries...notice the African continent shaped guitar logo...
"Every single day, 30,000 children die, needlessly, of extreme poverty.
On July 6th, we finally have the opportunity to stop that shameful statistic.
8 world leaders, gathered in Scotland for the G8 summit, will be presented with a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair. If these 8 men agree, then we will become the generation that made poverty history.
But they'll only do it if enough people tell them to.
That's why we're staging LIVE 8. 10 concerts, 100 artists, a million spectators, 2 billion viewers, and 1 message... To get those 8 men, in that 1 room, to stop 30,000 children dying every single day of extreme poverty."
That is to help Africa specifically. What about the poor in countries that are supposed to give all the extra and forgive the debt? Hmmm? Just ridiculous.

| London concert was best! The web feed was far better than what VH1 served up. Four McCartney songs on the web feed; just one on VH1. Thanks to AOL for doing such a great job--allowing us to pick which concert we wanted to see--or to hop back and forth--was awesome. I spent my time on the London concert--loved U2, Macca, Travis, Coldplay and Stereophonics. Even though the picture was small, I loved being able to see ALL of my favorite bands, not just the snippets VH1 doled out.
I have to say though, the concert lacked the magic of the first one--or maybe I'm just old. I remember the whole freaking *world* took that day to watch and my eyeballs practically fell out from it. I'm trying to think who was at the firsat one AND the second one besides McCartney, Bob Geldof, U2 and the Who. Sting, I think was...oh and Mick Jagger. Lots of new faces there with the uh.. old.
