(old news - 02:57PM Thursday Jun 16 2005)
tags: bandwidth · cable
While we're only just now starting to see the fruits of DOCSIS 2.0 upgrades, there has been plenty of talk concerning DOCSIS 3.0 and the cable broadband speeds it should provide. From Telecom Magazine, who dubs DOCSIS 3.0 a "DSL Killer": "Recognizing that advanced forms of DSL and, especially fiber-to-the-home deployments are a threat, the cable industry is buzzing about next generation DOCSIS 3.0 technology that will bond four or more 6 MHz channels into a behemoth data pipe capable of delivering 160 Mbps of data to an individual user." This CED Magazine article is also a good read on the subject.
