| Re: **YAWN** I think you're confusing the company's plan to offer AOL to Roadrunner/TWC customers (announced months ago), with this suggestion of actually combining the two once TWC goes public.... | |

| Re: **YAWN** Sadly no, I will double check with some standard CSR's but im pretty sure this is what we started about a week ago. Matter of fact we actually got pizza on behalf of AOL for this I think. Sadly though, I dont pay that much attention to that side of the field. -- Yeah, but at least I get cronjobs nightly. | |

| About time! AOL serves 20-21 million customers. Strictly from a business standpoint they should have done this along time ago. Granted not many people that visit DDR most likely use AOL but there is still a crap load of folks who still live and die by AOL. A lot of folks who have not switched from dial up to broadband have not done so because they think it would be to complicated. AOL will help those folks take that giant step.
Can we stop bashing Amercian companies for like 5 minutes? Some of you people who want AOL to die should think of all the folks that work for AOL and grandma/grandpa who only connection to WWW is AOL.

But the content of AOL is far superior to any other Cable companies own portal.

NM, silly me What i dont understand is that AOL DID THIS ALREADY 5 years ago. They offered AOL Broadband where they switched dial up users over to broadband (cable/time warner and DSL-whoever your telco was) and you were billed under AOL. I know..i had AOL broadband 3 years ago. Dont confuse this with BYOA..it was AOL BROADBAND. They stopped offering AOL broadband about a year and a half ago.

| I have RoadRunner.... I have RoadRunner cable from TWC. All I want is a TCP/IP connection as I have my own domain with e-mail, webspace, antivirus, antispam all built in, and I have my own firewall and antivirus on my computers.
If they require to install ANY software that even remotely smells lik AOL, I am dumping RoadRunner and switching to DSL.
I like RoadRunner, is has been working great for me for 3 years now. But I absolutely LOATHE AOL and ritually destroy the CD's I get sent about once a month.
There will be NO AOL whatsover on my computer. -- And i'm right. I'm always right, but this time I'm a little more right then I usually am.

| Consent Decree Lest memory serves, AOL had a consent decree when they merged with TW providing restrictions on what service markets they could enter and if they did, what terms they had to follow.
At the time AOL was the 200 pound bully and everyone was thinking they were going to migrate their market to other services.
I believe that decree expires this year. So while BBR may have been harping on them, there may have been legal reasons keeping them from entering new markets.

| Offered This before!! TWC offered this before. I had this service for about 6 months until AOL pulled AOL for Broadband and used BOYB and I got RR from TWC.
So if they combine TWC and AOL are they going to make AOL the TWC ISP instead of RR or will RR take over AOL?

I think Time warner should have put the two together a long time ago. If Timewarner does not put the two togeter Aol and Timewarner it would be a great buy for Comcast , cablevision or microsoft.:D
