They didn't graduate because they failed to pass the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test). Several of the protesters carried signs with inaccurate spelling and incorrect word usage. The silliest one had used the phrase "Gov Busch" instead of "Gov Bush".
Education in this state is a joke. More and more money seems to go to administration as opposed to student instruction and it shows. | |

A lot of kids will be having rather bleak futures because so many people think throwing more money into the government schools will solve all the problems. My real estate taxes have been going up by double digits for years; I live in Fairfax County, Va. More than half of our taxes go for government schools which are hiring administrators at a much faster rate than teachers. | |

Not sure where your neighborhood is, but here in Dekalb and elsewhere ITP (Inside the perimeter) plus most of Gwinnett, Cobb, Clayton & North Fulton and for alot of the newer neighborhoods in Forsyth they are all connected AGL mains. My house was built in 1961, my Mom's in Decatur was built in 1948 and all have had NG since day 1. (My house did used to have a septic tank though) I haven't seen a propane tank within 15 miles of the perimeter for years, though I'm sure there are exceptions. (Wife used to work for Georgia Natural Gas.)
Then again, metro Atlanta does practically strech to Charlotte now.
As for fiber though, yeah - we're SOL on that in the pre-2000 neighborhoods.

How to they handle propagation dampening, ghosting (harmonics), etc. between the point where its introduced and where its delivered. How are they handling isolation between households, or multiple accounts? How much energy is required to transmit upstream, from household to hub or headend? What happens during pressure flux? How dangerous would flowing NG inside of its pipe be toward generating static electric interference in the propagated transmission? What is the signal loss function--it is linear distance, non-linear distance on a tree, etc.?
This 'might' be of use to city owned and operated NG infrastructures and benefit them in knowing they will not have to dig up too much of the ROW (right of way). Still, though, its of limited market reach since (as someone already pointed out) not everyone lives in a NG-equipped neighborhood. | |

Since gas companies NEVER want amateurs making gas connections, the connection at the user end must just be some sort of alligator clip type thing--i.e., no cable or fiber blown through the line. So apparently the pipe's the thing.
If you thought that it takes too much power to drive an RF IP signal over power lines, wait till you see how much power it takes to drive an RF IP signal through a pipe which is GROUNDED for it's entire length.

That low voltage is DC, it will not affect a GHz electromagnetic field traversing the inside of the pipe. A problem would arise if the pipe has a metallic screen for a filter as that will effectively reflect the signal back. Also an abrupt change in the pipe diameter will cause some reflection and attenuation (thicker main pipe to thinner pipe going to the home). having to replace the gas pipes with "broadband-compatible" ones will certainly make BiG unfeasible. | |
