Sure, there would be a conflict of interest if they give better rankings for anybody that paid them for anything, but there is no evidence that they ever have, or any reason that they ever would. The Google model is built on the soundest of search engine policies: Revenue comes with search volume, and search volume comes from providing the searcher with the best possible result set. Any bias in that result set will result in migration to other search engines, and they understand it. | Mark my words, Google will eventually be a true registrar of domain names and then start offering web hosting.
They are the most trusted and liked name on the Interent, and there are plenty of unhappy customers with other hosting companies.
Also, they already have the infrastructure and know-how to do this, so why not?? | |
