And even if they were to bring that site down, there are so many mirrors of it, its not even funny. No less than 15 I have been to.

I love BT, they went down because ADV sued them or something like that, they are now hosted overseas IIRC. I used them until the site went down, now I just bounce around to different ones.:) I like BT though because their packages are great, they only host seasons or entire series, none of that individual episode crap. Looking for Inuyasha was hell lol.

Truth about hollywood...Hollywood is ready to slam you for using BT. I got a letter recently from my ISP saying that the Motion Picture Association knows i've downloaded crap. I'd only been using BT for a week and then I got that letter. So I stopped using BT. I never had anyother problems with things such as IRC. I hate BT.

It's P2P total anonymity is not doable without compromising the design (adding a proxy, which kind of eliminates the benefit of torrent).

Canada pwnz.No record of anyone being hit in Canada. To make things better, downloading music is legal here.
I love Canada. | |

Re: Canada pwnz.I got a email from Telus (BC DSL Provider today) letting me know that whoever owns a certain sci-fi show filed a complaint... yadda yadda, unless court ordered to do so, they will not give up my information. I don't really care, theres been a few people getting these warnings from telus, but i'm sure they're just doing it to get the tv studios (or mpaa or whover in my case hunts down people who download mgm shows) off their backs. I don't think they have a leg to stand on here in Canada, and we take the warnings with a grain of salt, now i just know to gran that crap of newsgroups and leave my torrenting to brand new torrents (like the night something airs somewhere), i'm guessing (since its worked for me so far) that avoids warnings because they haven't been up long enough to be infiltrated. i love BT by the way, so much better then p2p plazes like kazaa. Forcing people to upload was bloody brilliant. People who upload more get to download faster, it gives incentives for sharing bandwidth, not like a kazaa type system where 200 people are trying to grab the smae file off 3 people with a slow dsl connection

But just like other means of alleviating load s it is used for piracy. 2 good examples. AOL email system and news groups. If there is a better way of transferring data piracy will find it.
Now maybe the MPAA can give up it's strangle hold as well , all thought dvd's are well worth the price, and move to make a bt client available for a price to download any video wanted into xvid or divx codeced equipment.

AnimeBefore Bittorrent it was a drag getting any type of anime. Now with Bitorrent I download anime all the time even the ones i have never even heard of. Naruto was one my first Bittorrent downloads, and boy I never thought this anime was going to be this good.

its UPLOADING that causes MPAA and RIAA noticesits UPLOADING that causes MPAA and RIAA notices not downloading, BT uploads the same content you download as you download it, so downloading automatically means you are uploading the same content. So no content can be downloaded unless uploading is completely disabled or legal as well.
and if no-one uploads no-one can download, which kills P2P all together for illegal activity
Everywhere i look people are mad RIAA and MPAA are complaining about downloads, but it's UPLAODS that they create lawsuits and notices about.

Not meI dont like the idea of being forced to share my bandwidth with the world. So I dont use it. I dont read much into it, but if theirs a client that allows you to disable uploads, then I might use it.

Good news postPeople talk a lot about the non-piracy applications of P2P, but very rarely is there an enumeration of them like the one found in this news post. Thanks to the writer for providing some good examples!

thats no surprise..Hell I have bit torrent open right now... I downloaded over 1gb of tv episodes just today.

Anime here...anime there...anime everywhere!Love Bit Torrent. It satisfies all my anime needs and it's free, efficient and fast (most of the time). MPAA and RIAA don't care about anime, so anime enthusiasts are safe for the time being, unless US anime companies start clamping down on LICENSED anime, so the MPAA can't do anything to anime fans...until US anime companies join the MPAA.

I can see why some may not want to uploadMany users have only 128KBPS or 256KBPS upload capacity available to them, and the way TCP works if the upstream link is at capacity, the downstream link will slow since there's no bandwidth to send the ack packets, at least that's how I understand it. I'm fortunate to have a 768KBPS upstream link, so what I tend to do is while downloading I'll set my upload to half my upload capacity, or about 45 kilobytes per second, then when I see my download complete, I'll close the torrent but reopen it with no limits other than my ISP's limit allowing me to upload at about 87K bytes per second. I also have access to a linux server sitting on a 20MBPS link to the internet, and of course on that, I just let things go, that's always fun to watch. I only wish I could give that 87K a second to 1 person so they can download good and fast. that's the only thing I hate about bit torrent, most of my downloads start very very slow and it takes like 10 minutes to hit decent speeds above 1MBPS.. What's cool though is the if you know where to find stuff, the content can rival with what's available on usenet news servers.

SBC, BT and Private Networks...I download at home on my PC with azureus and at work on my Mac with bitconjurer. They both work great, and I get almost all the stuff I could ever want from BT. I use emule to get what BT doesn't have.
Also, having SBC as my ISP kicks much ass!
If I had Roadrunner I'm sure I woulda gotten some of those cease and desist letters by now as I like to share alot.
Finally, private BT networks are the way to go if you want to be "safe" and still get what you need.

Anime you say?Berserk>Hellsing>BattleAngel>CowboyBeebop>NinjaScroll>SamuraiX>BoogiepopPhantom>TheLastVampi reHunter>VampireHunterD>GunGrave> joor.
Anyone else dissapointed with latest offerings in Anime?
SamuraiChamploo went plain gay.
Bleach has an amazing idea, but is turned into Sailermoon n shit starting with episode3.
Samurai7, I forced myself trying to watch at least the first episode many many times, I simply cannot do it. Makes me wanna punch my LCD.
HaibaneRenmei yes it picks up after episode7, but couldnt they add some railguns to it or something? I havent seen ANY brain matter splatted on the walls in all of it.
GhostInTheShell2 felt lacking. Just somethign about it doesnt sit well with me.
