| Re: Verizon? My thoughts exactly. Like other people I will only get excited when I can use it at my house. We always keep hearing about these large deployments and how they are coming soon. Yet they never seem to quite make it as wide as they lead the politicians to believe. | |

| Re: FIOS + EV-DO Bundle? Not to get anyones hopes up or down, but I don't expect the 'overly' crowded markets to be connected to EV-DO at first. Similarly to AT&T's UTMS service (albeit faster), all EV-DO and UMTS services have targeted 'smaller' cities, and probably those that are easiest to upgrade first. | |

| Re: FIOS + EV-DO Bundle? If you check the links at the top of the page - its speculation - there's no official word from Verizon on it. As usual, wait for an official statement.
San Diego, Las Vegas and DC don't add up to the population of NYC combined.
stats (2000) (city websites): San Diego: 1.2 million Las Vegas: 500000 Washington DC: 500000
NYC: 8 million Philly: 1.5 million | |

| RNC Stuff My guess is that transmitter in GCS it just adding additional capacity for the RNC and/or making areas underground have a better signal. They did similar stuff here in Boston for the DNC, i.e., Verizon parked mobile antenna's around the city to beef us signals and capacity. | |

| Re: As usual I'm a little confused about this thread. On one hand, there is the EV-DO rollout by the wireless company Verizon Wireless. On the other hand, there is discussion about fiber, presumably from the landline comany Verizon Communications. They are two different companies (although the wireless company is partly owned by the landline company). | |

| Re: As usual It's not if it's the only service you can get (No cable/No DSL). I've called Verizon and begged them to get DSL to my house (Note, I prequalified on their website three times and placed 3 orders, they made me get a landline that I didnt want because my "address qualifies for DSL"). I, a paying customer, should not have to beg the only provider I have to choose from for service, it sucks. EVDO/National Access is pricey, but if it's all you can get, it's not too bad. Better than dial up and better than satellite. | |
