DOJ raids p2p network hubs, homes
(old news - 06:40PM Wednesday Aug 25 2004)
tags: legal · Fileswapping
For the first time in the battle against peer to peer networks, the Department of Justice used search warrants to investigate five homes and the offices of one ISP. The five individuals in question operated hubs (each of which had more than 100 Gigs worth of pirated material) for a private file-sharing network known as the "Underground Network". "The message is simply this: P2P or peer-to-peer does not stand for 'permission to pilfer," Ashcroft told reporters (ABC News).
