| Charter barely offers 3mb what a joke Looks like a very nice upgrade. If Charter would quit dragging it's feet and offer something like that, I would gladly hand over my money to them. We don't even have 3mb here and probably won't until summer. Other networks are ahead of the pack while Charter is offering jack. Charter=the unwired world. | |

| I called the Cinci Office and they said it may be out depending on how the service rolls out. However they are only providing the service to HEAVY users. And they only tell you about it when you get a PROMO Code they you get by RR Email to your Master Email Account.
When i called in they didn't even tell me about it until I asked for the service. And ALSO the RR Agent told me that this service does not have anything to do with DSL with SBC because Cinci DOES NOT have SBC they have Cinci Bell and they're speeds were about the same as RR. as far as Download goes but you get a good list of ISPs with DSL. But RR seems like they are going to take the market.
To find out if you are going to get it soon. Contact your Local Office and tell them you want a Super or call RR's HQ office at: 703-345-2400 they are open from 9am - 5pm Monday-Friday EST.
Also check the Help.RR.com website for network status and see when you are getting IP Network. the Columbus, WOH, and NEO areas are being updated this month and next month so prepare for a PROMO code from RR.

RoadRunner listens to their customers as well from what I heard @home didnt. And they only went out of business cause AT&T sued the hell out of them in parts that AT&T BI bought years ago.

| Here is the bottom line. Since your download speed is someone elses upload, the 6MB download is a bogus figure. Even the largest ISP's operators cap a single user at 3MB max. They will not allow a few users to consume all the bandwidth on their network. Since you will never see the 6MB download you will be paying for nothing. You can probably transfer a file within their network at that speed but not to anyone else. I own a WISP with a 45MB DS3 with full CIR and very rarely I can get 4 to 5MB from ANYONE out there. It is always less. | |

and actually I am a very heavy user and i can hit my 3MB download a lot.. if i do not hit it i get 2.7MB download which is still high on a cable network considering i live in an apartment compelx with 2 others near by plus with about 300 homes total not including the complexes on 1 node.
TWC / RR has a great network. Well at least in Western Ohio.

But you are prolly one of the users that want the service thats this fast for what? $29.95 per month? YAH RIGHT! DSL cant even be that cheap for their 6MB connection. and DSL IS MUCH more for the same package. TWC is going to do some major custome grabbing once this goes all the way through. But EVEN the Business Clas Networks do NOT even get 6MB down! they ONLY get UP TO 4MB.

| Actually.. Roadrunner does enforce caps depending on where you are. I was a medium usage user.. in my opinion anyway .. using maybe 60GB/mo .. and got hit with a letter saying I would have to upgrade my account if I wanted to continue at my current level.
So for an additional $40/mo I was given unlimited usage and my line bumped to 4mbps/512kbps.
A few months later, RR redesigned their plan structure again, and yet again I got screwed. Their new level was 40gb/mo for $49.95 .. 100GB/mo for $79.95 .. and unlimited for $139.95. I am currently on the middle plan, and was never credited the money I overpaid while they were trying to decide on how they actually wanted their tiers setup.
I won't complain tho as the speed is nice. But I do know other people in the same area that used just as much as me that never got the letter. They still download as much as they want on their upgraded 4mbps line while I'm paying double the price.

| In Austin, TX. TWC does indeed enforce caps. Tho, the caps aren't speed caps, but usage caps. Here, all users get unlimited downstream, as far as I know (and I've download over 100GB/month w/o them complaining), but standard users are capped to 10GB/month upstream and business class gets 20GB/month. To get them off my back with constant threats about canceling my service, I upgraded to business class For $89.95/month I only get 2Mbps down and 384Kbps up. A few months ago, standard users got their downstream bumped to 3Mbps, but us Business class users are still stuck at 2Mbps. Frankly, I'm not happy with RR, and will switch in a heartbeat to another ISP that will not cap my speed or usage. | |

| >Actually Roadrunner doesn't enforce any preset caps....
In addition to what shadowrunner says about there actually being caps, I can also report that here in NYC they reset your connection if you upload for any length of time. I sometimes have a p2p prog where the upload is throttled to 10k (of the 48k given by my 384kbps upload connection). After approx. one and a half to two days my connection goes dead and I have to unplug and replug the modem. If I set up the upload again immediately it will be dead again in a day.
If I do not have any constant upload I can leave my PC running for literally weeks at a time and my connection will be solid.
Gogo1
Disclaimer: I know p2p is against TOS. Im just illustrating that they do mess with your connection contrary to any believe that it is just OOL that do these things.

| Real Cost of Cincy Broadband What is the "real" cost of broadband in Cincinnati ? A new college graduate without much money needs to make a smart decision. Time Warner offers RoadRunner broadband but you need basic cable too. What does that cost if you don't give a rat's a** about TV? SBC offers DSL for 26.95 per month but you need to get basic phone service from them first. What does that cost ? Cincinnati Bell offers the same thing in Zoomtown. She's got a cell phone and doesn't need the phone from them or long distance or anything else they pack into their "saver" packages. So my question is, How much does it actually cost to get decent broadband in Cincinnati if all you want is broadband ? | |
