Norton Peeves Marketers
Argue firewall shouldn't block 'AdWords', others
The new Norton Personal Firewall blocks intruders and pop-ups, but it also blocks paid listings on major search engines, causing a degree of controversy among marketers since last fall. Some users apparently like pay-per-click (PPC) targeted ads such as Google's AdWords, argues marketing aficionados over at the Search Engine Marketing forums and ISEDB. Norton firewall users who run across such ads see a trimmed down version of the ads, which aren't click-able. Marketers argue (and have been since October) that Norton has stepped over a line with the decision to enable the feature by default.

Cheesy Marketing droids, how brainless!

If America weren't so darned marketing Centric, perhaps there wouldn't be such a brain drain of Hi paying engineering and Manufacturing employment being sucked right out of the heart of the American Economy.

Most Internet users haven't a Clue what kind of behind the scenes manipulation of their personal data takes place.

Mayhaps if the Marketing wonks were a tad more honest in the nature of their own activities, there wouldn't be such a public outcry over this behind the scenes activity.

Anyways...

If you OWN the Computer, you have a definate say in what is LOADED and or RUN on that computer.

Mayhaps Norton DID step over a line by making this feature on by Default, but ya know what...It's only in rsponse to the sneaky behavior of these same marketing wonks, so, oh well.

More power to em over at Symantec!

Way to go Norton

These advertisers need to get a life. People HATE this stuff. Popup's Spyware Adware..

There is no end to the countless wannabe advertisers. A simple banner is enough to spark interest. If you want to sell your product it shouldn't be invasive.

For the love of god..

Way to go Norton!
