Put your broadband connection to use and take a flight into the past, downloading the intro's to your favorite 80's television shows. Though some things (like Alf and the musical intro to "Perfect Strangers") might be better left in memory lane. Link spotted in our Cool Broadband Bookmarks forum.

What, no "EMERGENCY?"

This list is incomplete without the one, the only...Randolph Mandrake!

But still a cool trip into the past.

Gosh, my older sister had a HUGE crush on him when we were kids! She was a member of his fan club, had his posters all over the walls! Sheesh!

Emergency was on in the 70's (at least that is when it premiered).

Captain Power - First Interactive Show?

I think Captain Power might rank as the first interactive television show as they worked with the electronic toys of the same name.

The tv show had 'hot spots' on certain enemies and would allow you to shoot at them with the toy. If memory serves red spots were 'shootable' and yellow spots would deduct hit points if the toy's sensor picked them up. The sensor must have been narrowly focused because it was possible to adjust the toy's angle to avoid them. When the hit points were lost the toy would eject its action figure pilot.

If memory serves some of the toys even came with a cartoon video with the same hot spots on screen (just with more action). The toys could also shoot each other for laser tag-like play. All in all cool stuff for the 80's .

It never ceases to amaze me how much information is stored on this wonderful network we've created . I found a site that cataloged this entire toy collection associated with this show:

Great Shows

Very cool... I remember watching so many of these shows when I was a kid. COPS, Thundercats, Transformers, GI Joes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He Man...

For some reason the intro to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles says "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" ... did they change it for American release or something?

Apparently it is the other way around. The clip seems to have come from the UK where there was a ban on the use of the term "Ninja" so the logo was redone for the UK release to say "Hero".

How in the heck did that ripoff cartoon ever make it on the air, anyway? The REAL Ghostbusters was the only way to go!

The transformers ruled.

I still have many of my toys. They are somewhere in storage. The sad thing is that I'm going to start selling them on eBay to get some money. Times have been tough. It's cool to reminisce and think of our youth with such fond memories.

DON'T DO IT!!! Hold on to them as long as possible. My mom gave away my ENTIRE GI JOE collection when I was 14. What I wouldn't give to crack open a box and rummage through that stuff today.

Woody woodpecker?

Anyone know what happened to 'ol Woody the Woodpecker? Hahaha... haven't seen him around in over a decade!

Yeah, all those brought back good memories...

There's still lots that could be added! Although, that list is great, and I'm wonderin' how he found all of those intros!

Anybody here remember Voltron?
