An ILEC thinking with a clear head? What's next?...the rednecks stopping the boycott of French's Mustard after realizing it's not made by the French?
All sarcasm aside, I think it is high time some of these providers start listening to the consumer who pays the bills. -- ::: Do, or do not, there is no try:::»www.kapilville.com

| You act like every cable operator is offering cable-based broadband service. WRONG! Two big GONGS for you, Mr. Doesn't Know Everything!
Adelphia finished dropping fiber in my neighborhood back in May 2002, a point when the network got certified for use. Because of decision-makers in that cable company the company as a whole, and many of its local franchises suffered greatly.
Thus, absolutely zero broadband offerings from the cable providership in my little neck of the woods. At least with DSL there is a chance of competition. With the cable organization there is no competition from other cable providers.

| High time (yeehaw..lol) for BellSouth to start offering DSL to customers instead of just a hand full of people. BellSouth can't beat Cables 2.0mb downloads unless the Telco is on Fiber. Why don't they just give us DSL instead of a lot of talk. If your going to say something how about, Hey we just upgraded our old crappy out of date network so you can receive DSL service in your area. Oh wait now thats news. What kind of people run BellSouth... um never mind? Hey wana bannana? haha

Yeah, well from what I have seen of the service Powerlink can't compete with Bellsouths Email service (/5 accounts w/ 25 meg per account), decent number of newsgroups @ full DSL speed, and connection reliability, very little downtime. (for me anyway) I have seen Powerlinks service.. I have to pass!

| HAHA DSL on fiber. Let me say this is what caused me to move to another city heres why. Ugggg and the word Dfidl
I waited a year and a half to get DSL and it was finnaly installed last Apirl. Thats when the fun started. after 3 weeks of no service I finnaly got it up and running after they did some work in the in the CO. Of course the whole time fighting back in forth for hours with different reps and supervisors, stating it was my computer or my modem, so I purchased several modems and threw another PC together out of spare parts and voila still didnt work. After what ever they did in the CO I was up untill I rebooted, that took another 2 weeks to figure out, My line was stuck connected on the circuit, but this was not found till 15 hours on the phone with tech support, and them rolling a truck that checked my lines in my house and not finding anything wrong with the lines, phones or modems.
This madness continued, no credit was offered by bellsouth, I just kept getting the response, well this is DFIDL and is a new technology. Well was I paying Beta price for beta testing? Nope.
Finnaly I couldnt handle it any more, I called cancelled the account and started looking for a new area with old cooper lines. Found an area 20 minutes away and I signed up with bellsouth again. To this day not one problem.
I know Im one person, and this is one instance, and I am not raging on support, but I feel sorry really for anyone that had to go through what I had to go through.

| Re: BellSouth to Unveil Low-Price Broadband DSL Funny how competition and market share do things like...lower prices, improve service, add features and otherwise benefit consumers. So I guess it's little wonder why each telco or cable operator wishes to be the only broadband game in town, huh?

| Oh and this is a good deal ? $14.95 a month for a static I.P. on top of regular charges. Bell South needs to remember a very large portion of there current users came from Direct TV last winter and we all had a Static I.P. with out a extra fee much less almost 15 dollars a month. | |

Price is only one point. how about decent speeds, bridged connections or port speeds with added speed to compensate for pppoe/a overhead (like verizon) and decent american tech support that live in america and can actually help with problems. -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth
