25% of All Homes Globally Now Have Wi-Fi 439 Million Wi-Fi Homes at End of 2011 According to a new study by Strategy Analytics, 439 million households worldwide had installed home Wi-Fi networks by the end of last year. That means roughly twenty five percent of all households in existence now host a Wi-Fi network. Strategy Analytics predicts that this number should reach 800 million in 2016, for a global penetration rate of 42 percent. South Korea leads the world with the highest Wi-Fi household penetration in the world in 2011, with most future growth in Wi-Fi enabled homes unsurprisingly coming courtesy of China. "China already has the highest number of Wi-Fi households in the world, followed by USA and Japan," notes analyst Jia Wu.
