That's a feature I enjoy because sometimes I need the text bigger to read some small print, but I don't want everything large the next time I go to a different site.
Different strokes for different folks, I like that it doesn't remember the text size. If you need bigger text, you can set it in the preferences to be "bigger" all the time as you need.

I think anyone who is not an idiot could tell by my post I was refering to the 29 milion not the 8 milion. If I was refering to the 8 million why would I even mention the other versions of FF? That's not logical. So since that wouldn't be logical the LOGICAL conclusion one can draw is that I was talking about the 29 million. And that 29 million DOES in fact count the dozen or so downloads of FF I have done. | |

I just opened: History > Show All History > All Bookmarks > Unsorted Bookmarks. Guess what is in there? A freakin' porn site I have visited, but never bookmarked. And it is the ONLY site listed. The site is only one of hundreds of site visits I've made, and never bookmarked - I haven't made any bookmarks. What the hell is it doing there? I have FF set to delete all private data at exit. Is it in every FF and I happen to visit it or is it in there because I visited it?
I think it's bye-bye time to FF. I was getting to like it too. Jeesh!
Edit: It's in the Recently Bookmarked folder too, yet there is not now, nor has there ever been, a bookmark for the site. Jeesh, again! | |

Once those that I use everyday have been upgraded to support FF3 (or have a FF3-Only version released) THEN I will switch my FF version from FF2 to FF3. Until then, the FF3-Only enhancements are not enough for me to do the switch. | |

And the neat thing about marketing in today's world is that it doesn't have to contain a shred of truth. Lots of companies have blown up stats to blow up stock prices.
I have FF for Windows but have no idea how it got here. I never downloaded it. I think it came with one of the Google packages. Noticed it, opened it, and thought it seemed comparatively unrobust. I definitely don't have time to waste figuring out another browser of all inane things. I tried that with Safari once and had to slap some sense back into myself quickly. Speaking of which, Safari for Windows has now magically appeared on my desktop through an iTunes update I believe. Are they going to start bragging about download stats too? | |

Marketing scheme? Yeah, obviously. But the stats arent blown up. I'm sure they did it for publicity, but their log files were scanned very thoroughly, and verrified by Guiness, the numbers are accurate... but if I recall, They included Every update from a user, whether he owned 2-3 computers with firefox on it, or not. I believe the only protection was a cookie... which I suppose people could have bypassed. Though I'm not 100% sure... They could be only unique IPs. Either way, it is pretty impressive for a browser.
Microsoft should setup every computer running windows update to d/l Ie8/9 at the same time...destroy the record, would be funny  though Imagine it wont count :P | |

| Firefox Download I downloaded FF3 also then. I even upgraded to FF3 on a system I use. Upgrading fubared a few extensions, the main one being 'Download Manager Tweak' as I really, really don't the downloads in a separate window. All in all I keep FF2 on current setup. Running FF3 there is unknown hard drive thrashing that doesn't seem to be happening under FF2. | |

2 edits | Perhaps this just means people were disappointed When an upgrade causes this much attention, it very well could simply mean there were a hell of a lot of dissatisfied users. I didn't opt for Vista because I'm satisfied with XP. I opted for XP and actually paid for it because I was dissatisfied with Millennium. In terms of knowing the standards and being effective in the workplace, it pays to know what is being used. If they introduce Vista to my workplace, it would make career sense for me to become familiar with it. If they are using IE at work, knowing FF inside and out isn't really going to benefit my career much. As a manager, I'm going to be much more likely to hire someone who knows Windows, Office, Outlook, and IE than only Mac computing or FF. Why would I want to increase their learning curve and burden myself and my staff teaching them the very basics of our computer system? Just like those whose language becomes a barrier. If they speak or write terrible English and spend all night at home speaking their native tongue with no effort to improve their communication skills, it is not career smart. | |
