Canals & Waterways

Yes, you can! -- put two narrowboats through a lock on the Grand Union at one time. I stopped to photograph this because I thought it couldn't be done. I think that this was actually two couples travelling together and trying to minimize the time n..(more)

Teddington Lock -- Take the footpath up the Thames between Richmond and Kingston-on-Thames. A pleasant enough walk, punctuated only by the Teddington Lock complex and the weir. Not all that impressive, is it? Ahhh, but the secret lies across the fo..(more)

Pubs

And sometimes you find a beautiful little pub in a truly obscure location. The Fox is up a footpath from the Grand Union where the Brent enters the canal. No foxes, but lots (and I mean LOTS of dogs). Watch where you put your feet and enjoy a pint..(more)

Pubs

In a REAL neighborhood pub, you find real people -- people with kids and dogs; you find low ceilings (usually bowed); you find a pleasant garden, often shaded in the summertime. The Plough, Dec 2004.

Pubs

When visiting a pub, observe the proprieties -- or the proprietors in action, your choice. The Plough is the pub in Norwood Green. There's a more 'genteel' pub in Osterley, but I never got any photos of that one.

London

The green fields ... of London. Yes, they do exist. This is part of Osterley Farms about 40 meters off the M4 and well within the M25. Norwood Green, with a very nice little pub and St. Mary's is just beyond the treeline.

York Minster

From the end of October 2005, for about a week, select York attractions were bathed in a light show that was breathtaking to say the least. I was lucky enough to be there and caught this shot of the Minster. It was better live as the colors changed a..(more)

York

I don't know much about the building but I saw the way the entire structure bows in the middle, and the angles of the glass in the windows, and had to take a picture!
