Yes, you can! -- put two narrowboats through a lock on the Grand Union at one time. I stopped to photograph this because I thought it couldn't be done. I think that this was actually two couples travelling together and trying to minimize the time n..(more)

Teddington Lock -- Take the footpath up the Thames between Richmond and Kingston-on-Thames. A pleasant enough walk, punctuated only by the Teddington Lock complex and the weir. Not all that impressive, is it? Ahhh, but the secret lies across the fo..(more)



And sometimes you find a beautiful little pub in a truly obscure location. The Fox is up a footpath from the Grand Union where the Brent enters the canal. No foxes, but lots (and I mean LOTS of dogs). Watch where you put your feet and enjoy a pint..(more)

When visiting a pub, observe the proprieties -- or the proprietors in action, your choice. The Plough is the pub in Norwood Green. There's a more 'genteel' pub in Osterley, but I never got any photos of that one.



The green fields ... of London. Yes, they do exist. This is part of Osterley Farms about 40 meters off the M4 and well within the M25. Norwood Green, with a very nice little pub and St. Mary's is just beyond the treeline.
