Configuring XyXEL P660m-61 ADSL access modem

This modem is a challenge to configure. There seems to be no documentation on line for setting it up. One is unable to communicate with it, after resetting. When executing IP config command, there is no default address string under default gateway. What am I doing incorrectly? Please kindly help. Thank you in advance.

Zyxel 660HW Pinging through Modem for Gaming

Hi guys,

I have a Zyxel 660HW and DSL. I am playing Command and Conquer on the internet and what I have found is that the server or the other players cannot ping my computer when we setup a game. By default if I put a Linksys or a 2wire on they can ping through them and it works fine.

What can I do to open ping/icmp up on the Zyxel. I set the firmware to allow ping on wan/lan. I put my workstation in the "dmz" or I think the default server but still ping doesn't work. I also disabled the firewall too. Does anyone have any suggestions? I see the firmware posted is a few years old, is there a newer version of the software available?

Thanks,

Zyxel NBG460N firewall

hello :) this is my first post here.

i'm trying to set up my router which i bought this week (NBG460N) to allow all LAN to WAN connections but deny all WAN to LAN connections.

i just can't figure out how to do this in the administration page or with telnet.

when i define a rule, i can't find the fields (from - to) to say apply this rule to wan to lan only and not to the lan to wan connections.

it's either allow it to both or deny it to both.

please help,
thanks :)

Remote VPN user to remote VPN site issue

This one is hurting my head. I have been away from VPNs for a while so it may be a simple answer.

I have a remote user running GreenBow. They connect to a Zywall 70 at the main office. There are several remote offices connected via Zywall VPN routers.

User is trying to VPN into main office and use Remote Desktop to control a PC at a remote office.

The packet passes the Zywall 70 and is seen in the log as a VPN to WAN route.

Nothing is seen on the remote VPN router. I don't know if the issue is because it is wrapping the packet twice with VPN info or if it should be going through the VPN interface instead of the WAN on the Zywall 70.

I know this is not an ideal setup and I have other options. I just wanted to see if it could work.

Any ideas?

Zywall 35 VPN Tunnel plus Client Route to VPN Server

I have a couple Zywall 35s on two LANs and a VPN tunnel connecting them and it works just great. How do I also use a VPN server that sits behind one of the Zywall 35s for client L2TP over IPsec connections from the outside? Is it even possible?

Routing LAN traffic

I am upgrading an existing installation. Currently there is a Linksys (BEFSR41) router connected to a DSL modem, an old single port Cisco router and two logical networks. I need to replace the old stuff and also add a new physical network.

Current configuration is that the "main" network is say 10.10.1.0, the Linksys is at .1 and all of the computers use this network. There is a second network say 10.10.5.0 with a server and various terminals on that subnet. Some PCs also have the second subnet on them so they can get to the server.

The 1501 is the gateway for the second subnet to allow Internet connectivity for the second subnet. It is also used to send traffic to another router that connects to another network but I will be eliminating that.

I will be adding another physical network with its own subnet for some wireless equipment. That subnet needs Internet connectivity and all devices on that new network need to be firewalled so thay can only talk to one IP on the second logical network (10.10.5.0).

If I use say a Zywall 2 or 5 it seems that setting up an IPalias on the LAN would handle the physical network with two logical networks and then say adding the new physical network to say the DMZ port would handle it.

I haven't done this so am I missing anything obvious about if this would work?

Thanks
