WB has been slower than dialup since Thursday

I've had WB since August 17th, and it's been mostly perfect till Thursday. It has routinely come in at 25 Kbps on testmy.net. Sometimes it'll shoot back up to 350, or 650, but a lot of the time it's slower than dial-up. It's acting as though I'm FAPed at those times, but I'm not. I'm only at 50%. A week ago I was at 64% and it was usually above 700 Kbps whenever I'd do a speed test. So what gives? Anyone else been unusually slow recently?

My beam is 133, and I'm on Duluth. If it's still doing this tomorrow, I'm calling WB.

[general] WB equipement cross compatible with Hughes??

My mom currently has WB, but has had Hughes in the past and still has their old one-way dish/LNB rig. WB installed a new dish & etc when she switched.

So, things aren't so good at WB and going back to Hughes is a consideration (cell service is lousy where they live, so that's out). Can any parts of the WB rig be re-used with Hughes? I'd like to consider buying used Hughes equipment to save some $$.

BEWARE of WILDBLUE FRAUD

I'd like to let everyone know my experience with WILD BLUE. I feel they have committed fraud. It started Aug 2007. The service started going in and out. My mother would call to let them know the service had gone out at least 3 times a month after Aug. When in Dec 2007 it went out completely. When she called they told her they would send her a new modem free of charge since that was the problem. She couldn't get on the internet at all!! When the modem arrived 2 wks later, she noticed a charge on her debit card for $300.00. When she called to ask what the charge was for, they told her "the modem." She told them what she was originally told - that the modem would be free. They said there was no note of that on the account. They said if she didn't want to be charged she could send the modem back and they would refund the cost of the modem once they received it. They received it in the beginning of Jan 2008 but it is now Sep 2008 & they have yet to refund the money. During that conversation where they said they'd refund the money in the latter part of Dec we explained to them since their service wasn't working & they were gonna charge us for a modem we didn't want or have any longer we did not want to have service with them anymore. That was the last we heard from them until May 2008 when I received a collections letter. They stated our account was past due and I owed them $600.00. I called to let them know they made a mistake, that we canceled our service in Dec 2007. They said they had no record of that. I explained to them that I did cancel our service & if they would look, they would notice our usage was nonexistent since we didn't have a modem to use their internet service as of the beginning of Dec 2007. They told me they'd call me back within 2wks because they needed to research it. And if they didn't call, everything was fine. Since then, I have checked my credit report & they have reported me owing them over $700.00 now. Dealing with them is ridiculous!!! The fact that they can get away with this is outrageous!!!

UPLOAD Speed

I recently had Wildblue satellite installed and have not had a page load in less than 25 to 58 seconds. On numerous calls to them, much testing and having a service call I was told I have an upload speed of 243 kpbs. Funny thing was the service guy used speakeasy, which was accurately measuring download speed to the expected kbps, but upload speed was only 46 to 67 on numerous tests and he told whoever was on the other end of the phone I shouldn't be charged for this quality of service.

I can see why they like their toast testing system when it HAS to be inaccurate or my pages would load in the promised time, if the readings were what THEY THINK!!!

Is your Wildblue slow??

The last 3 days my Wildblue goes back and forth between extremely slow and not working at all. According to a speed test my upload is very high but my download is 46 kbps. I called Wildblue and they say my satellite signal strength is low.

What does this mean? The sun is shining outside. Before I had Wildblue I had Direcway/Hughesnet and the only time it stopped working was in a massive flood. I've been with WB for 1 year now and my contract is up. They've been to my house 6 times for repairs in this time. I'm frustrated.

What can I do besides go back to Hughes net??

Thanks!

WB Cancellation Tips?

I submitted another thread earlier, but it never got posted and shows up as locked now - strange.

Anyways - here we go again

8 or 9 months into a WB 2 year commitment - I'm replacing it with a T1 line to the house. With all the horror stories of CC billed WB accounts - how should I proceed?

Cancel my CC that is used for WB charges prior to cancelling the WB service? Its a debit card btw.

The small type of the contract reads something to the effect of your charged the remaining months of the contract x $25. Is that accurate? So I'm looking at something like a $350 cancellation charge?

Anything else I should do or prepare for?

Thanks for any input

Letter in mail, new charges for service calls.

Not a question, just some info mainly.

I received a letter from my local coop today, stating that they are now going to "start" charging for service calls. I didn't know that they didn't before now, never had to use them since installed 2.5 years ago, but that's how they worded it. Anyway, $50 per hour "for time spent on the call", plus $1 per mile, one way to get here (for me that would be $65 for mileage).

In addition they are offering a maintenance plan for $6 per month, which will cover all repairs, equipment replacement, etc. and up to 2 hours of labor. Normal wear and tear only, not covering things like trees, lightning, etc. The fee may increase on the "anniversary" of the date of the agreement.

I see some people saying that they have to spend a certain amount with each service call, kind of wondering if any other dealers offer a service plan. It would maybe be nice for those who are stuck, with severe problems all the time, with repeat service calls.
