Sprint aircards incompatible w/Acer computers!?

A word of warning! I purchased an Acer laptop and after installing Sprint View from my Sierra 597 USB modem the touchpad and keyboard stopped working. I returned it to Best Buy and a Geek Squad guy said Acers have this issue with aircards, they cause the keyboard and touchpad to no longer appear to Vista.

How to aim antenna

I have just installed a Hyperlink HG2424 grid antenna and need to correctly aim it. I do not have line of site with the tower. I have the latitude and longitude of both my house and the tower from google earth. How do I convert the latitude and longitude from both locations to a compass heading? I can use my compass to aim the antenna if I can get a compass heading. I did a google search but can't find anything that will help me determine a compass heading from lat and long.

Anyone got any ideas?

Manual Update Novatel U727 Firmware

I've tried on both a PC and my Mac to get my U727 firmware to update, the only thing the Sprint SmartView software update is telling me is there is a PRL update. I know the firmware is out of date running ver. m6800B-RAPTOR65_S-114 [Dec 10 2007 15:46:36]

Any idea how to manually get the firmware to udpate?

Gaming problems

Anyone here having problems playing games starting in the last few weeks?
The day after that one tropical storm with the huge wind gusts I haven't been lag free since.
The tower came back online since and I have the exact same latency and transfer speeds, but lag in battlefield 2 is constant. I can't even really play it. Intermittent 300ms spikes/packet loss to any server. But since I can't find a bad hop, or a good home address, I can only guess it's farther up in sprint's network. If I set a constant ping, it stays within a few milliseconds of the average too.
I don't have another online game I play so I'm stuck with asking here.

Account Overview now makes note of the 5GB limit.

In my account overview section of "My Sprint", it now has a note on the right side--

Connect Card plan: data limitations may apply.

You can click on it, and it clearly states the 5GB policy. Maybe now people will quit arguing it doesn't really exist.

Strong signal but no internet

My 595 card is in a Linksys 3G-ST router and connected to a yagi antenna
I get 80-100% signal (-74 - -76db)
I have only one servicing tower 2.7 miles away.

Several times a day I lose all internet connectivity, altho my signal stays strong.
I reset, reboot, try the connection manager in my laptop, but nothing works except time...anywhere from 5-40 minutes, before connectivity returns

Any ideas?
Thanks, Barry

Got the Sprint warning letter the other day. Anyone else?

This concerns data cards.

Got a form letter the other day from Sprint that said I am violating their TOS by consistently roaming over a 3 month period of time and that I need to change how I am using their service.

One big problem. I have the connection software to use Sprint only. It never shows the roaming icon.

The Alltel tower near me is acting like a Sprint in network tower instead of acting as a roaming tower so it's not possible to connect to the Sprint tower a mile further.

Sick of SPRINT!

:mad:I have had it with SPRINT and there lack of service. I have been going through this for about 3 months and have had it.
I can't even watch news clips from my local station. I have been on the phone with these guys for a total of 7 1/2 hours.
I even got a new modem with the same results. I have changed everything on my system RWIN ect. with the same old crap.
I asked them at tier 2 about the tower and I gave them the site ID#. I am going to cancel my service with the reason that it Not As Advertised!

This is about 1/4 of what I got when I signed on with them.
This is EVDO too....

Looks like I am going back to Wildblue unless they do something pretty dam quick.
At this moment I am ready to run over this dam modem With either the tractor or the horse and have him crap on it then send it back. ;)
Am I bad or what?
:( Dave :(  :uhh:
