[Reception] Sportster Replay - Acquiring Signal Problem

I have a Sirius Sportster Replay, that is 3 years old, that I installed in my car. I have never had any problem with it in the 3 years I've had it. In the last two weeks, I've noticed a weaker signal (1 or 2 bars in areas where I used to have 3), and times when I'm in the middle of the open and I get "Acquiring Signal" that lasts 2-3 minutes.

This morning, I started up my car, Sirius came on and worked good. I went to switch the channel, and when I changed it, "Acquiring Signal" came on, and stayed on for the remainder of my drive to work (about 10 minutes), and I have not been able to get it to acquire a signal since.

Anybody else having issues? Is this something that I may have to replace the radio? I do know of someone else who's radio kinda took a crap, but didn't know if this was the same type of deal.

A few shining spots of the merger...

I know its hard to believe. Despite the total fouling up of the programming, I have found some bright spots in the folds.
Since the merging of the programming, I have found Lithium to be a little more diverse playing artists that would have never been played before. Prior to that, I found it to be too pigeon-holed in grunge.
Another channel that has surprised me in Spa (73). The music seems to be more mellow.
Its easy to focus on the negative in situations like this, but I'm sure some people have some positives to come out of this.

Much of a difference between XM and Sirius?

Ok. I was just wondering if there is much of a difference between XM and Sirius?

I know one had Fox sports while the other has ESPN. But I'm guessing that the music is more or less the same.

Never mind. I guess I was thinking of the old line up. Ok, so after the merger of channels, why would one pick xm over sirius or vise versa?

Which post-merger channel has disco/freestyle music?

Now that "The Strobe" is gone from Sirius's channel lineup, which new channel has disco and freestyle pop?

I went through every channel I subscribed and I could not find any disco and freestyle music. This XM/Sirius merger seriously screwed up Sirius' original channel lineup.

No 45% discount on Mostly Music!

I had switched both of my receivers from Sirius Everything to Mostly Music. Everything went great with that until I was billed the month after. I was billed $19.98 for both on Mostly Music and thought to myself "Well, I'm now paying 4 cents more a month for less?".

So I call in to ask why my second receiver didn't get the discount and if it could get it on the Mostly Music package considering it's not mentioned on the site nor did the rep. tell me that when I switched over. They guy had no clue and had to put me on hold to ask his supervisor. That's right, he didn't know which means they are not telling customers this information. The only way customers get to know this is when they call in to find out why they didn't get the discount a month later!

So if you have 2 receivers and your looking to save a few bucks, forget it! I have now changed my package again to get charged their "Subscription change" fee yet again. Went back to Sirius Everything, may as well.

Figured I should give everyone here a heads up on this if your thinking about changing. Sirius isn't considerate enough to do so! Then again it's not the first time a company has taken this route to generate revenue. :uhh:

EDIT: That last sentance is pure speculation on my part. :p

Sirius-XM Merger...but not Canada???

I had to give a call to Sirius today, nothing to do with the mention topic, but then I asked the rep about the Sirius-XM merger, and when we'd see a new lineup..he said, 'Not in Canada, the merger was only in the United States'...Am I missing something here?? I have sirius because of a couple good channels they have, namely, BBC Radio 1, which will be available on XM very soon. Canada also lost Shuffle a while back, so I was hoping for some positive changes in our line-up. IS this a load of crack-induced talk, or is Canada remaining a separate entity in the satellite radio business. My understanding was that the gov't had minimal regulations on this type of thing (being that it is really a 100% unessential service), was wondering if anyone in the 'know' knew. Thanks

New Forum Logo?

Now that the merger has been finalized, is it time to redesign the forum logo to reflect the new merged company and name?

The above logo appears to be the "official" logo of Sirius XM. However, I'd be willing to bet we have some creative folks that can make us proud. So, please post your suggested logos here. I'll then create a poll to see where we end up.

Some guidelines:

Must be aprox 130px × 63px or less
.gif, .png, .jpg, .jpeg are acceptable
You may enter more than one

Thanks!

Sirius filing for bankruptcy soon?

With the stock down to about $0.16 a share, almost non-existent advertising and even Howard won't go on Letterman and Kimmel to promote Sirius for the holidays I kinda get the feeling it won't be too long before they file.
How that would affect the big contracts (Howard's $500 mil, Oprah's $50 mil, etc) I don't know.
Any thoughts?
