[HN7000S] Hughes is history

Well after 5 years with Hughes I have switched to Sprint mobile broadband !

What a difference I have downloaded at 1.4mps and average about 950 and can do this all day long at any time.

Hughes has really gone down the toliet IMOP.

If you go to Sprint and check coverage area you might be able to use it. Make sure when you are in the coverage area you click on the Media broadband tab and not phone service. Sprint phones have 1 bar strength here and with the mobile broadband I have 3-5 bars.....

59.95 unlimited use
69.99 for the Hughes Pro crap I have been putting up with.

Just thought I would let you all know....

Hughes Needs To Fix Their Screwed Up System!

As in their Bandwidth Shaping/Limiting/Usage and monitoring system. Today an ugly fap reared it's ugly face to our connection, a fap we didn't deserve.

Their screwed up usage software is claiming we used all of our bandwidth in an hour. Mind you this is impossible and I have provided an explanation as to why below:

We have the Pro-Plus plan, we have barely been using the system for the past few days except for browsing some light websites.

Well last night from 12AM to this morning at 11AM the modem remained off. The modem was turned on at a little after 11AM this morning.

From that time up until I was wrongfully fap'd all I was doing was browsing some light websites (A couple websites), at a little after 1PM I noticed the internet was running painfully slow and checked the usage page just as a precaution.

Sure enough we were fap'd for no reason at all and hughes screwed up system is showing we used 409 MB in an hour.

I was the only one on and the only one who's PC was on, however I wasn't downloading anything or doing anything bandwidth intensive and was only browsing a couple websites/forums and checking replies that had been posted.

I've checked router access logs which showed I was the only one on, not to mention or wireless is secure and encrypted.

I also checked to make sure I had nothing running such as updates or any downloads in the background.

After everything else was ruled out, I figured hughes screwed up system decided to throw a fap my way just for the spite of it.

Needless to say, I'm not very happy or pleased and wish true broadband would make it's way to my area. We've gone through enough bull**** with hughes the past year we've had them to fill the grand canyon.

[DW7000] Does HughesNet Slow Down BitTorrent Traffic?

Hey all, I know the FAP policy pretty much stops torrenting for the most part, but there's a new tool to actually test if an ISP is traffic shaping. I still haven't been able to get access to the test server because it's supposedly busy, but I will post here when I have the results.

[DW7000] Signal Jumpping up and down

Any installers or people on IA 89 West? I've been having problems with my signal jumpping from in the 50s to mid 40s sometimes into the 30s. I've checked around the dish no tree branches have grown in the way and the wires are all checking out. Haven't had this problem before been using the same unit for 3 years now. Even checked the Dish pointing and it's solid. Wondering if this is a sign the unit is going out. Any help would be most appreciated. I have contemplated calling Hughes but I know from experience unless your going to buy new equipment they are no help.
Thanks

[DW7000] Delayed Reception of E-mails Since May 5th

Since yesterday, I have been experiencing delayed reception of new e-mails, some taking as long as 5 hours to be delivered to my inbox. Sending e-mail appears fine and others say that the e-mails I send to them are delivered promptly. When they put the e-mail system back to the old setup, it worked fine until just yesterday.

Just chatted with Hughes who acknowledges that a few people have called in complaining about delayed reception of e-mails. They say that they are aware of the issue and that their engineers are working on the issue and will have it resolved as soon as possible. Yeah right.

I justed wanted to make others aware in case they start seeing the same thing.

[HN7000S] unfairly fapped

Hello All,
I have been a huhesnet-dw subscriber for almost ten years-so am not a nwbie. Last night I was Fapped for the first time ever. I am a web developer and I run 3 XP pro machines connected by ethernet - no wireless and during the hours of 9pm-12Am Pacific time last night while my wife and I were watching a movie on TV, HughesNet has me downloading over 500 megs. Of course today I am fapped and a call to support was to no avail. I insisted they made a mistake but all they could say was, 'sorry'; they want me to monitor my usage and if it happens again to call again. Thanks a lot... Meanwhile I'm at dialup speed. I searched my computers for sizable files d/l'd during the time period in question and of course there are none. I don't play games online mor do I make many downloads. I update all my pgms manually and there is absolutely no indication that I made these downloads either on my machines or in my mind, only on the usage charts which I copy below. I will also copy my typical usage chart which has been pretty consistant over the last ten years. Does anyone have any idea what may have happened? Has Huges or Direcwway ever made such an error before to anyone? Any suggestions?
thanks up front,
Joste

[Installer] ACP Server on G16

I installed a system yesterday on G16 with the home plan, 2watt.
Good signal of 86, but the crosspole was strange:
Manual ACP on 1230 gave me just a "queued 99". So I switched to 1350 to do a manual. On this one I got a "pass" also whith values as low as 48. The best I could get was 58.
After this it passed the automatic with 55. I finished the registration. Ended up on 1370.

Today I went back to the site and before I did anything I checked some stats:
- Rate code 256 4/5 (highest available rate)
- Failed Transmissions less 0.1%
- Current Modcod.............. 8-PSK 5/6 (15)
Speed test on testmynet: 748down/108up

Again I tried Manual ACP and all went the same as yesterday.

The calculated polarization is -18.5 degrees and the best ACP value showed up at -13.5 degrees (the pole is perfectly plumb!)

Anybody here who experienced a similar behavior or know what is going on?

Thanks___Raminto

[HN7000S] finally done with Hughes

Well, my modem went out for the second time. The LAN connection stopped. I called tech support and went through everything with them. Need a new modem, AGAIN. This time though, it is no longer under warranty. They want me to spend $199 for a new modem. Since my mother was at my house and her ATT aircard was just as fast.. if not more reliable than the satellite. I am going that direction. I cannot believe hughes want support me. They would rather loose my business than to realize that the hardware has a flaw. My only downside now, is I'm losing my static IP. I guess I am willing to. I'll be paying almost $30 less a month and DSL is just around the corner for us. I would glady keep hughes until then, but the way customer support treated me... there is no way..
