Frontier Speeds

You are so right! I have only had them for a year, but I am still surprised that 1meg is the best they can do. It is very frustrating.

Re: Frontier Speeds

Try getting a static IP address from Frontier (at least in rural AZ). Now you're talking "business grade" DSL. I pay $80 a month (that's not a typo!) for a blazing fast 512/256 connection. They recently upgraded the download speeds, so I'm actually getting 1024 down. 1 mbit down and 256K bandwidth for my VPN ... now I'm living the good life! (Irrrrrr......)

Re: as a temporary fix

Funny you should mention that: I have an install date of Sept. 8th.
We will see.

Upgrade rating

If they upgraded your speed and you are happy, you should upgrade the percent ratings to show how you feel about the service.

10 meg

@ca.gov

I've been on the list

Yeah, I'm on the list for 8 meg....that was in January 05. I'll wait to see it happen by 2007.

can't wait for another option! I don't like frontier blazing speed.

frontier blazing speed

my frontier connection here in tn is extremely reliable but as overpriced as it is reliable. i work for another telco and we offer 15meg (over fiber) for around the same price as i pay for my 3 meg here. However after nearly 4 years of service the only outage ive experienced was due to a fried modem. also they could provide better equip. especially for what they charge.

Only Service Available

Frontier the only option here at $55/month for 1,040/138 kbps service! The bundled long distance with the internet service and you're stuck with BOTH for 12 months.

If I only had an alternative...

Theoretical Maximum Speed

Frontier increased the "maximum" theoretical speed in my area from 1MB/Sec to 3MB/Sec last month, but the definition - existing only in theory; hypothetical - is especially true in this case. Net latency is still terrible most days and the service is just not available part of every day. I believe I will cancel the service when my "contract" is up, and just drive to the library instead, for free cable wireless service.
