Cox cable? I feel bad for you.

Hi; couldn't help but respond to your post: it is sad but so common.
I worked for Cox@Home, then Cox.net, as a cablemodem tech and as an installer.
Most of truck rolls we do to situations like yours are a waste of time, and we know it. the guy on the phone knows it, the tech who comes out to your house knows it. It costs over a hundred dollars each time we come out to your house, but it gives the appearance that Cox cares, so we (supposedly) retain customers in this futile exercise.
Many customers have good connections, some don't, and there's not much that can be done about it.
I feel bad for all of you, but in order to hang on to our jobs, we can't be honest with the customers.

Re: Cox cable? I feel bad for you.

Maybe I should have just said that I *KNEW* it was a waste of time over the phone... but the other guy would have probably hung up. I asked the guy "Do you really think having another person come out here will fix it?" He said "I honestly dont know". Well damn, yall already replaced everything 'cept the kitchen sink, not much another tech will be able to do!

BTW- The connection was good (PERFECT) before, and since everything on our end has been replaced it is obvious someone at cox did something wrong. Out of the numerous techs I have spoken to, only one tech (And he was Tier 1, wow!) knew what he was talking about. The one Tier 2 person I talked to decided to send out a third technician. Out of all the techs I have typed to over the net, the one who is currently helping me via email is probably the only one who knows what they are doing.

Tier I's

I am glad that your speeds are better. I have never had any problems with my speed and I avoid calling about anything (I have no problems). The few times (in 5 years) that I have lost connection was due to my own router not updating DHCP.

I have found that the recorded help you get while waiting to speak to the inept Tier I's is very helpful, more so than a live person.

BTW >>> what does 5/2 and 15/2 stand for? I get 5000/768 and I do believe the reason why those in RI especially get those fast speeds is because they are (or were) a test market, and they have far less subscribers than here in San Diego.

Re: Tier I's

15/2 is the premier tier in RI/Virginia, to compete with Verizon's FIOS.

And AZ I think is testing 9/1, that or they have to compete locally...

It just sucks since SBC isn't doing anything here COX isn't competing.

Cox in CT offers both 5/2 and 15/2. When I upgraded to 15/2 two weeks ago, the new speeds were nice. Then, the speeds slowed down. A call to tech support had 3 different techs roll out. All 3 techs came in to the house, logged into a "dedicated" Cox server, checked the speeds, said that I was within "range" and said there's nothing they could do and left.

Can't wait for FiOS. As soon as it's here, cya Cox!

Tier 2

The Tier 2 reps on here can help you just as they helped others who are having problems:
