I have comcast and have both Mac and Windows machines. I have a router which is generating the IP Scheme for the network.
On a Mac just go to control panels then to the network, then go to TCP/IP and leave the radio button on Obtain IP auto

You will need to enter the Domain server IP scheme manually if you are not using a router. That information should be on the paper with your User name and Password that were assigned to you at time you signed up with comcast.
