| We are here to help. I read your complaints and I can imagine the frustration you have.
•If your interested in our TOS they can be found online in writing »sbc.yahoo.com/terms/
• About your order. Basically we cannot place an order for DSL until your POTS order has cleared. The ETF about moving is generally true. Usually they don't hold it against you if you want to continue but cannot because it is not serviced by SBC.
• Your billing sounds like it was a mess, did they get it all resolved?
• Your newsgroup problem, there is not much I can do about it. There are no plans to update the servers for increased performance.
• About spam, since your so enthusiastic, if you want, IM me your number and I will forward your info to Policy so they can discuss your concerns with them.
• If your having any other issues, or if I overlooked one, please let me know.
Thanks,
Rick -- Thank you for choosing SBC Internet Services. My name is Rick. How may I help you today?

| Re: We are here to help. Thanks for the reply and the sympathy dealing with this mess.
I'm aware of »sbc.yahoo.com/terms/, but it says nothing about a $50 fee that I specifically asked about.
The abuse issue has been discussed at length in this thread: »[General] Hey SBC Techs, what's with abuse@pacbell.net?. Hopefully some folks at SBC understand the spam problem better, in terms of scope and solutions.
I still have yet to see all the billing problems resolved.
The spam problem seems to be getting worse.
IM'd to Rick: 415-xxx-xxx Hopefully, I've begun to explain that there are things that SBC can and should do that it isn't doing. It should not provide services that facilitate spammers, and there are effective and cost-efficient ways to avoid doing so. Spam is a complicated problem, that SBC couldn't solve on its own if it wanted to. But it's tractable; I'm not suggesting you do something about people who forge email from pacbell.net addresses, or anything that isn't well thought out. There's bad advice for fighting spam, but there's good, effective advice too.

| What was the issue? said by elvey: Yahoo and SBC support ping-ponged me back and forth about who was responsible when I tried to get them to fix a bug in their mail system. (Yes, it really was a bug, by any reasonable definition; SBC level 2 eventually (after 10 phone calls back and forth) asked Yahoo level 2 to look into it, and they said a few weeks later that they'd fixed it, but they hadn't.)
So what was the issue. | |

| Blacklisting Bizarrely and annoyingly (considering it does not stop the deluge of spam you will receive at all) SBC also blacklist their own domains sometimes. As well as Yahoo, Yahoogroups, Hotmail and other popular (and popularly abused) domains.
Ask CS about it and be prepared to receive ignorance and/or lies in response.
If you don't care about having a reliable email account or are satisfied with using a third party, use SBC. If you want reliable e-mail I & O stay as far away as possible, you won't get it.
