dapoohd in Fargo

Hi, dapoohd in Fargo, what's your SN level when packets are dropping.

Type 192.168.100.1 in the address header if you have a surf modem. If not you can find other ways of finding your signal/noise level by reading the cable tech under faq in dsl reports. If your sn noise level is dropping below 28 then you may experience packet loss of some kind.
Most cable problems are in line amps especially when on poles, wire and connections, if your cable is new and all ran with rg-6 box to house with only one splitter to the modem your side should be ok. If not you may want to read the cable section FAQ.

By the way if you have cable tv does that suck also?
Even though they are at different Frequency's if the tv is bad the internet will follow.

There is one other possible problem and that is if cableone has over sold your area with cable.
If that turns out to be the problem I would bitch load and clear, call the fcc, bbb, govenor, run adds in the local & state papers etc.

Don't think thats it though, look at you cable and connections/splitters.

Good luck

Re: dapoohd in Fargo

Signal to Noise Ratio 36 dB

I guess these numbers look good? I am running the Surfboard 4100 series modem. I own this modem as that when Cableone first offered cable modem service in this area you had no choice but to buy your own rig. Now you can lease their modems for $5.00 a month. One Cableone tech suggested that I try swapping out my modem for a leased modem to see if that makes a difference.

I also have Cableone's television package. The service has been on the most part regular in quality. But, there have been times when there appears to be interruptions or interference. This has not happened enough for me to track down anything noticeable.

Eyah I can see calling ANY tech support center and every tech will have that attitude. Probably because every person that calls thinks its the other ends problem. So eyah that's human nature I guess yay people. And if CableOne was to tell you that the economic revenue of the area has not been good enough to upgrade the network in the area because CableOne supports RUAL area's WHAT THE FUCK GOOD IS THAT GUNNA DO FOR YOU besides satisfy your curiosity. Hope this helps!
