| Bandwidth/Conn spotty, but at least they try...
I to moved into the Naples area in 2000...from a small town in Ohio that had their own cable and highspeed internet connection. It was solid and incredibly fast. Needless to say, I was spoiled.
I've avoided getting high-speed at home because of horror stories about Sprint and MediaOne...er...AT&T...er...@Home...er...Comcast.
I finally broke down and got Comcast about 3 months ago and have had spotty results. The cable modem drops connectivity to my laptop between 15 and 60 minutes when in use. The only solution that works is to power-cycle the modem...and that only buys me another 15 to 60 minutes.
Comcast service has been responsive and unsuccessful...so far. They've swapped out the cable model twice, changed the coax in my apartment and to the service that comes into my building. Service is telling me that they feel it has everything to do with signal strength and, being on the far end of the building, I'm on the "long end of a short stick". They came for their third visit this morning...we'll see how well it works now.
If anyone has had direct experience with local Sprint DSL, I'd really be interested in hearing their comments. I was responsible for telecommuncations for our company and had so many problems with Sprint that I tossed them out on their ear and went with a different company for data and voice services - USLEC. They have been rock solid with 99.9% uptime.
So, Sprint sucks and Comcast is still trying. |
