How to Network Between 2 Comps with BA DSL?

Well I just got DSL and I need to network between my 2 comps. I don't know how. You seem you do know how and so please could you tell me how to do it in steps? That would really help me a lot!

verizon sucks

the worst internet service i have ever experienced. forget about tech support. last time i tried: 88 minute wait. never respond to emails. i cancelled it and called to ask why charges were on my bill. they told me it had been noted that i wanted to cancel but never processed. idiots. goes down for days at a time without warning. constantly slow. stupid software that is confusing and useless. makes you install an old version of netscape. they offered me another month free and i refused it. in nyc - get roadrunner if you can. it is the best! always fast, never down. tech support on the phone in minutes. trust me on this one - don't do it!

Verizon??

I paid for 640/80 $39.95 mo. The best I get is 500/68. I live a block from the HUB. If I what faster...more money.

Verizon speeds

If you wait a while you may get switched to their 768/128 speed when do the conversions in your area. Don't have any solid idea when that will happen. Probably not all that much of a consolation in any case.

IT'S NOT THE SPEEDS THAT IS THE PROBLEM, THE PROBLEM IS THAT ACCORDING TO THE TOS, VERIZON CAN PRETTY MUCH DO ANYTHING IT WANTS AND YOU HAVE NO LEGAL RECOURSE TO FIX THE MATTER. EXAMPLE IF YOU DECIDE TO ADD SOME EXTRA SERVICE TO YOUR PHONE LINE, YOU CAN GET 'ACCIDENTALY' DISCONECTED FROM THE DSL SERVICE, AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT BACK IS BY SUBMITTING A NEW ORDER, AND YOU HAVE TO PAY THE CANCELLATON FEES. WHAT A GREAT SERVICE.

verizon woes..

my service, since installation last week, hasn't broken 110 up, 130 down... Still have a four day old open trouble ticket... I wish there was a cable alternative, or satellite was faster..Oh why did I open this can of monkeys..

I posted this in the wrong forum

but heres my comment on VerizOFF

If you can, at any cost, DO NOT USE VerizOFF aka HellATLANTIC

I first HAD to get VerizOFF because NO OTHER DSL providers was available, the month I got installed, 2 OTHER DSL providers became available, I call Verizon and CANCELLED my order ( 14 days after installation ) because they say they allow cancellation within 30 days.
They said they would send a package that I need to return their equipment in, it already has the RMA and pre-paid, I didnt receive it in a week, I called back, they promised AGAIN to send the pre-paid RETURN box with the address
They still did NOT send, after calling back and CUSSING them out because they NOW THREATHENED to CHARGE the EARLY TERMINATION FEE because we past 30 days, they agreed to send the RMA package for their equipment, they still did NOT send it.
I had contacted another DSL ISP by now, but when they contacted HellATLANTIC, BellAtlantic told them it would take 3 to 6 months for HellAtlantic to RELEASE the line after I cancel, well I couldn't do without DSL for that long because of classes and business that I do online.

Heres what type of service I have been receiving from VerizOFF for the last 6 weeks or so.

I have the 768/128 package

Since day one I've been getting 704/96 average, but lately, on TOP of that, I and many people I know have experienced the same problem, NO DATA for up to 2 minutes
Imagine you're an administrator of a site and you're providing LIVE Customer help, you're chatting and the customer asks you a question, you type your response and press SUBMIT/SEND, the DATA is sitting ( sending ) on your desktop for 90 seconds to 2 minutes, thats very unreasonable, then verizOFF gives you data for 2 Minutes, then you cant send or receive data again for another 60 seconds to 2 minutes.
What type of crappy service is that ?

Theres no EMAIL COMPLAINT form or email-address on their site, so you have to CALL and wait sometimes 30 minutes to get a CSR.
I dont wanna CUSS out the CSR because they aren't the ones thats controlling the data flow ( or are they ? )

But as soon as my 1 year commitment ( that I was forced into ) is completed, I will be going with SATELLITE or CABLE DSL service,

I advice to "STAY AWAY FROM VERIZON/VERIZOFF"

OFF because thats the type of service they provide.

2 minutes ON, 1 minute OFF = 66 Percent .
Now who would be happy if they get 66 % of their check on payday ?
or 66 % of gas that you paid for ?
verizon is CRAP.

Most times I have to resort to my 56K account in order not to have interrupted service during LIVE CUSTOMER HELP chats.

I think that a lot of people do a lot of complaining about Verizon and their DSL. I have Verizon DSl service and it is a wonderful service. You need to make sure that you read the Verizon terms and conditions very carefully and no one is forcing you to use their service. You have the right as a consumer to go to another DSL company, which there are a lot out there. First, this is residential DSL and not business DSL. So basically any residential high speed access is meant for entertainment purposed. My suggestion to you, is to stop the complaining because basically you are just one of those customers who bother customer service all the time and really dont know what the hell you are talking about.

and you obviously lack COMMON SENSE
Without CUSTOMERS , RESIDENT or BUSINESS you have NO BUSINESS, please keep your DUMB A## comments to yourself, YOU are the one that does NOT KNOW what you are talking about.

Ok, I agree Verizon could be better but I had worse when I had Earthlink Dial Up. Constant busy signals, dropping me every time I played a game because I didn't change screens and they kept upping their prices.

Overall I am happy with Verizon. Never had an outage in the approximate 6 months I've had it. Their e-mail servers need to be fixed but other than that no problems. Since NJ limits my speed to 640/90, I am happy with getting in the low 500's and 80. You get used to the speed and it starts to seem slow, but go back to a dial up and you will realize how fast it really is.

What are you talking about. Considering you are an obvious employee of Verizon it's even more amzing your answer. As a Telco how long would you be in existance if you did not provide dial tone to your "Entertainment" residential customers. Remmeber it's the residential customers that give reason for your business customers. They may be a cheap pain in the butt but they are the reason for the existance of your service. How many business customers would it take for your company to reach economies of scale on all the high end switching equipment you need to buy. Your margins may be higher with the business account but you need both customers, otherwise why are you providing the service?

Time Warner RR will start imposing caps, ATT Broadband will have tiered pricing, and neither one of them has to notify anyone of anything because it is in the TOS. It people bothered to read TOS agreements, they would find out most state that connections are not guaranteed, even if you are paying good money for it. Yes I do work for an ISP, and no, I don't always agree with policies, but to attack someone and call them a dumba## for speaking the truth, shows your stupidity.

So true. I work as tech for att and it's not my fault that att makes these rules. So don't start yelling at me becuase you aren't getting the speeds that you think you should because you can yell all you want but there is nothing that any of the techs can do. I understand that you are mad and i don't might you venting but don't make it personal.

Turbo connection speed with XP

Have anyone tried to run the speed test with WinME and end up with a very slow test result. Try this get XP and run the same test again. My initial test result with WinME was 192/133; with XP 703/135.

verizon damage control

I agree name calling is not good and should not take place between postings.But i agree verizon does damage control when every they feel the need to so that the stockholders like my self do not get pissed at them.This is what i do when they pissed me i sell off some stock as punishment. and let them know about it.

I have had serious

I have had serious issues with Verizon on-line, Verizon business and Verizon's phone services (pots and wireless) Last year made the switch to Comcast, Vonage, & Sprint (Sprint is nothing great but they work) I was a $4000 a year verizon customer and they would not do anything to help me with the issues we had. Now I save money and have better services. (BTW, we did not have the $15 dsl My home line was $40 something and my business line was over $60)

Verizon ended up on my credit report, my fault for not paying the bill I disputed. But even after I paid them they will not remove the scar.

I have reported my story to: (my services did not work and there was serious quality issues)

Underground Fiber...

Verizon is going to be running FiOS in my neighborhood where all of the wires are underground. It's not a problem for them really, as they have machines that will help them. What may be the problem is that nothing has been passed in your area to allow that deployment yet.

Upgraded DSL here...

VZ will never offer FIOS in their entire footprint.
VZ just upgraded their DSL offering here to 7.1/768.
I believe that means they have no intention of offering FIOS here any time soon if ever.

If only the Verizon CSRs worked this well.

VZ also upgraded my area (DelMarVa Peninsula) to 7.1 Mbps as well. I seriously doubt we will EVER see FIOS deployed here. We don't drive BMW's and have a summer home in the Hampton's, so they seem to cherry pick where it will be deployed.
