No PPPOE please....

Verizon requires you to use a username and password to connect to their DSL. I think that's BS. You should not use an ISP that requires special software and username/password to connect to you dedicated DSL line. I use Cyberonic www.cyberonic.com I pay $49.99/mo for a month to month contract, it doesn't require any additional software or username and password to get on the Internet, comes with static IP and speed is 1.5m/768k.

Defrag will not do a thing for you... It only buys Verizon staff more time while you are busy defraging for hours. In the mean time they are hopping you will call someone else to resolve your problem

With all fairness, I don't think it was their software that messed up the system. I would reinstall AOL software (I don't know why people use AOL... But that's another story...)

Good luck

Re: No PPPOE please....

it wasnt verizon who suggested the defrag it was aol and this is her only solution since she dont make enough money at this moment she said once she gets her tests out tha way she will order OoL which kinda makes me wonder how my speed will be since she lives in the apartment under me.

Well if the defrag dont work i dunno wtf were gunna do prolly call verizon techys. Although when i went to register her account the software used a built in login and pass to get to the network setup so i dunno ill let u guys knoe what happens in the next few days

Re: No PPPOE please....

1. AOL techs are complete idiots if that is what they told you to do.

2. Run Nukepoet from the Verizon cd and that will get rid of the VZ software. I'm fairly sure that is the procedure. I am in an fGTE area and use DHCP.

3. The modem may sync because the connection is made to the DSLAM at the CO but the profile has not been built yet. If her SRD is not yet then that is why. If she is passed her SRD, call and find out what the delay is. Sometimes problems happen which cause orders to be postponed. NYC is a particular problem area.

4. AOL software can cause a lot of problems interacting with other TCP stacks. Once she is done using AOL and you know her Verizon DSL is ready to go, nuke all AOL software before running the Verizon software. You do not even need VZ software. If you are familiar with it, Raspppoe can be use in place of it. It uses less resources.

Question - where are your tests?

So you're getting these great speeds from Verizon. Not to say that you're lying, but where are all of the tests that you have done? I'd really like to see the last 2 months and this week and if you're truly seeing great speeds.

Thanks.
