What he said

Totally agree. I've run some tests recently at pcpitstop and the results were horrendous! My #$^& is barely faster than a lowly dialup... Too bad these $@#&^&$s have a monopoly on high-speed internet access in my area or I'd switch in a flash!

This is Total BS

Ive been with rogers for lil over a year now... it went from killer, to being killed!!!! on speed tests i was owning T1 lines, all these expencive business lines that had high caps... my average (when i 1st got the service) was killing at +3MBit down and +500kbit up... i hosted games on CS, ppl had pings of 100 or less, with almost 16... that service was the best, good price, high caps, godd tech...

now... hell... im looking to jump to DSL/ADSL.... all i need is like $150 for internal modem... and im gone!!! theres services out there that are a 3.5mbit lines for like $5 more per month.... the speeds have droped to a crawl... 1258/184 is my new average... and that killing me... no more servers on CS holding 16ppl nicely... no more fast d/leds.... hell wut am i doing here????

insted of sitting here complaning, i should be out looking for a DSL/ADSL service... i found a good 1, now all i need is 150-200 bucks... unless rogers come out with smthin good, and fast, b4 i have 150 to spare... then their SOL... im going to DSL... i dont plan to pay more to get back old service... unless they bring out a uncapped or @least a 5/1MBit line, then im gone....

well, ive done my complain 4 da day... so, im outta here.. latz

Re: This is Total BS

your complaining that they don't give you 5/1meg WTF... For personal use I pay 49.99 USD a month for 1.5/128 from PacBell, you cannot complain beacuse your not getting 5/1meg.... jeeze

Very true, but I think that maybe it is Roger's fault because they gave them to much to eat in the begining. Roger's must have known that the amount of bandwidth they were giving out wasn't sustainable.

There is now an alternative for some

I was on Rogers since it came out. It was amazing after it took me 6 months of arguing that my connection sucked. They finally sent a tech out 3 times... the third try was what fixed it... some ID10T didn't put the correct connectors on the cable. Since that fix it was insane fast. I moved and now I feel the cap. From 7PM to about 11PM it is slow... I am a hardcore online gamer... that's play time for me and the connection has ruined it. But alas, Magma has come into the picture with 3Mbps/680kbps for $65/month. www.magma.ca

Head on over and get the connection you once had. Yes the cost is more, but the support and the speed are well worth the added price. I'm the IT guy for the company I work for and we use Magma Lan extension as the connection for the office... I have nothing but praise for Magma. Bye Bye Rogers...

Slow uploading.

I recently got rogers highspeed lite cable, everything was ok at first then one day when I tried to upload somthing to one of my accounts it was uploading at about 600 bytes per second and it would usually stop then disconnect. I thought it was the account that I was using but I tried all of my other 5 web accounts (all different hosts) and the results were all the same, (all slow). On WinMx, people were downloading from me at around 0.45kb\second. Also, When I try to send files to people it sends about 10 kb of the file then disconnects 99% of the time. You've got to be lucky to send files. This is a big problem for me since I transfer files a lot to update my website and send important files to people.

Despite all that, the downloading speed was ok and never slowed down. For me it has never disconnected but I just wish the uploading speed would improve.

Re: There Is A ReaL Solution.

Do you think if we got enough people and cried to the CRTC anything would happen? Sign me up for a petition. In fact, I downright vote rogers as a monopoly.

Re: There Is A ReaL Solution.

i hate shaw (formely rogers) in vancouver!!!

Your download speed : 336946 bps, or 329 kbps.
A 41.1 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 200097 bps, or 195 kbps.

this is actually one of the better tests

no where close to 'extreme speed'! closer to 'extreme-kick me in the head- slow speeds' after a month of service no one seems to know what the exact problem is and they just shift the blame to other departments in shaw.

theres alot more to complain about but im to tired from waiting for these webpages to load. tired of shaw and tired of their excuses. ill sign any petitions to bring down shaw!
SHAW YOU ***HOLE!

Rogers sux

This review is completely, 100% accurate. I moved into a student area recently and ordered Rogers Extreme. Everything was great until the students moved in... at that point my bandwidth dropped to 30down 10 up. We communicated for 3 months and had at least 5 techs come out. None of them had more knowledge than I do and none of them did ANYTHING. They all tested the line strength.. said it was "within acceptable limits" and left.

This is where we get mad... they expect us to pay 50 bucks a month for a 5 dollar service. They STILL have a ticket open on our complaint but we've moved to a new ISP. (execulink DSL..Pretty good!)

After 5 months of BS they still have no idea why they can't get a stronger signal to us.. but i know why!

Re: Rogers sux

The signal strength has something to do with your speed but its not the only thing that dicatates speed. signal strength is a rateing of the signal which is still Radio frequency. that being if the signal is week, that means the signal is quiet. also if the signal is too strong it means the signal is too loud, that also hinders the internet. its like listening to music, if it is too queit you may need to listen to it again to hear what they are saying, and also if it is too load, you may not hear it because it is too load, so you need to listen to it again to understand what they are saying. that is signal strength. I am a rogers tech.

Re: Rogers sux

If you really are and happen to be his area, will you verify the slow speeds and maybe look into why if its not his modem strength? I always check mine myself before calling my isp so I can let them know it's ok and another issue. You are probably more aware of these complaints as it does say you are a member here. Anything that can be done for some of these people at all? If this is not your field could you kindly refer them to someone who can help? I commend you if you really are a Rogers tech to have the guts to admit it to these people lol. I hope you have the guts to help them too.
