Kind of tempted still to switch over, 1.5 by 128 for what I was paying before.

I'm also having major latency problems with Verizon's DSL service (768 down/128 up), and this has been going on for at least a week, primarily at peak usage times. Prior to that, the average latency (tracert to Verizon.net) was 35ms. Now I'm lucky to get 400, and have seen it as high as 900+ms. Called their tech support - they're using the recent worms/trojans as the reason, but, interestingly, I checked very early this morning (around 8am) and I was averaging 35ms, and similar rates around lunch time during the week. Granted, more people will be on line during peak hours, but I'm beginning to think that Verizon has over-taxed it's infrastructure - after all, they recently reduced their rates nationwide, and upgraded sections of their infrastructure. If this doesn't clear-up in a week or so, it's back to Cox Cable - most of the folks I know here in my area with Cox aren't having the same problems that I'm having - could Cox be "worm/trojan-proof"?? Don't think so....

My verizon dsl is working great right now but i have experienced some problems before. I used to get like only 380kbps when i take a speed test but now it went from 380kbps to 1.2mbps. Do u guys use the telephone wire to hook up to your router that verizon gave u? If you don't try using that to connect to the internet cause thats what i did and it worked great! Or try to clean out your circuits if it has dust. It also might not good if your wire is damaged. You could also try and renew your ip configurations. Hope this helps! Go here to test your speed. »www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest

| WinPoet with a Westell.
Dumb question. If your'e using a Westell Wirespeed, why are you using either WinPoet or Rasp? Westell 2100 and 2200 have their own PPPoE client in them already. If it's a Westell 2200, it's bridged, but you can use XP's PPPoE client or you can fake a connection with 2000 by telling the computer to dial you vpi/vci pair as a telephone number. (I'm a DSL Tech )

| PPPoE WinPoet was a tech support disaster. The best solution was get a modem/router with it built in, and save a lot of grief. Verizontal finally agreed and started doing so....
But I now find that VZ here does not seem to care if I run PPPoE or not. YMMV.
