Yes it does cost you

That is why I went to Earthlink.com to pre-register for their service. About $45 per month even if you don't get cable tv. I have not heard great things about their DSL service, but I am still willing to give their cable internet a try.

It seems that DSL service is more prone to problems because there are more "hands in the cookie jar", and when something goes wrong the ISP and phone company play the blame game. I have even heard 3 companies can be involved when you get DSL. What a nightmare.

thats what I did

I have roadrunner but I did not have cable I was paying $62 a month but then they came with an offer with earthlink cable that uses rr lines. I thought maybe that the price will be the same but after calling them up I found out it was only $42 a month.

I have had roadrunner for a week...and I think it sucks. Download speeds at 3am are 1.0 to 2.0 megabits+. However, starting around noon, they drop to 120 to 250 kilobits. I can literally watch the web pages load like my old dial up.

I don't think the problem is my PC since everything works great at night.

I believe I am seeing the AOL syndrome....sign up as many users as possible, and forget about those who figure out your product is worse than just about anything else on the market. Fortunately, I have no contract, and I will probably be going to dsl next month.

By the way, I live in Orlando, FL.

I too have roadrunner in orlando, it does suck, in morning i average 2000kps, nice, but it only last a bit, then drops to the old 150kps(not 50x faster as advertised...). The support does nothing but say it must be my problem..so i have dsl on the way...thank god...good advice, DON'T GET Roadrunner in central florida, just seems they have too many customers..

try the tweaks

Have you tried going through the suggested tests and tweaks here at dslreports? I got odd behavior like that at first too, but now get consistent speed.
