I have had Shaw HSI for 7 months now. I have CATV with 2 Digital boxes with all the fixens and there HSI, I pay $123 mnth CAN. @ first the service was great. Good speeds @ between 3-4megabits (366KB/sec - 488KB/sec) d/l and a constant 400-450kilobytes (48KB/sec - 55KB/sec) u/l. Now the only time I get anywhere near speeds like that is during the time of day like now (3am) or if I use Download Accelerator. And thats if the service is even working. Now that summer has come and we are getting hot weather. YES even way up here in the great white north. CATV and HSI are cutting out. CATV starts going out around 11am and of course the modem loses synch as well. CATV come back up within a couple of seconds but by the time the modem synchs back up the CATV goes out again. I have already had a line tech out to check on the rf values and he came right out and said there wasn't a damn thing that he could do about it. The main switch on the street feeding the neighborhood is over heating from humidity. So the only time I can enjoy CATV and my HSI is around 9pm @ night when it starts cooling off. And that doesn't even work for me because I work 6pm-2am.
I am almost temped to go with Bell Express view for Tv and DSL for HSI since I am not getting that good of speeds anyways.
Oh well what can I do. Shaw is a monoply here. The only game in town. No other place to go unless DSL through Bell. So I guess I should stop my B**chin.
