FYI...

That happened because an ASI tech moved your Cap from 384K to 768K (read SWBell reviews for notes on capping). But glad to hear that you like ASI and your happy with your service!

Good Luck to ya!

If you are lucky, sometime in the future maybe ASI will be able to completely remove the cap and then you can reach speeds up to 1.5 mbps..

Re: Good Luck to ya!

Doubt ASI will raise this customer's cap to 1.5 Mbps or they would have already done it. This customer's line will probably not support more than 768 kbps due to distance from CO. The ASI techs check when they move a cap from 384 to 768 and from 768 to 1.5 Mbps and I guarentee you the tech moved it as high as possible but still give reliable service. Remember when doing these speed tests that there is some PPPoE overhead, some TCP/IP overhead, and you are checking every connection between you and wherever the speedtest on the internet might be. Run the speed tests several times and take an average.

I mean eventually another CO might be closer to them and they can get switched over...

Not in this lifetime...even if they build a Pronto hut in this guy's back yard, they won't move his line if he is getting satisfactory service at 768.

Up Again

I don,t see it getting moved up from my experience with ASI either. He needs to keep after them if he finds out he is in good distance. They played with me about speed for a long time. Now not capped, Was not capped at start, bingo then it was and had top speeds before.

I agree on tech support

Once you get past the idiots at teir 1 and the guys at teir 2 and get to a real ASI, your problems will be solved. If SWBell learns something they need to get more ppl that know what they are doing in tech support.

Re: I disagree on tech support

All the centers have hired a lot of new people to reduce YOUR hold time so YOU don't have to wait half an hour to get a hold of somebody. If you think that tech support doesn't know anything then don't call. Fix it your self. SBC has online help at
swbell.prodigy.net
sbcglobal.prodigy.net
Remember you are calling SBC because your having troubles getting fixed.

Re: I disagree on tech support

Nice to see the SBC Customer support attitude coming through, as expoused by Thran.

I see posts like this time and time again. It's no wonder so many people are just lied to by tech support. Thank God for ASI!
