Re: 1.5

Would they allow video conferencing? How would that affect the speed? would the video be smooth?

If you read the tech docs the service will see burst speeds of 3mbps, bout the same as cable. Upload around 384 and low latency. Supposedly easy to deploy as well, with them just plugging the base station into their IP network. Woo hoo. I too cant wait untill they deploy it nationally.

It is also expected to cost around 40-50/month according to flarions estimate, however it looks like Nextel bumbed up that price.

IP addresses are likely to be private ones (i.e. 10.X). Nextel is also employing transparent firewalling to keep certain types of traffic from entering or leaving their network. Don't start salivating just yet. This is a web surfing, email checking product. No wireless provider in their right mind would let the typical DSLR/BBR power user on their network without a leash.

Would not be large servers. Just small and personal. Very little traffic. Problem is that right now I have nowhere to run them. As Comcast forbids them to be run on their network. Even for business customers with business accounts and static ip's.

Tell me about it. I wish it would come here so I could dump Comcast. They are my only option and I hate them.

I wonder what other features there will be. Like static ip's and server operations. I need something bad in my home for this. I have excellent Nextel coverage where I am. I would easily pay $75 per month for their service.

i hope your not planning to run servers off of this

yeah, if its EVER available here, I will drop my dsl and use that. no doubt.

$75/month is pretty steep for unlimited bandwith. You could go over the 150MB limit very fast at 1.5mbps.
