4 edits | reply to Skipdawg I'm testing from several different perspectives. 1 how will the software run when the built-in antivirus is turned off and a competing vendors product is running on the machine. 2 how will the product interact with XP SP2 that I just recently installed. 3 how will the software act when in use with a Linksys WRT54G router. 4 how will the software run on a somewhat older machine. More to come.
I've not used the built-in antivirus do to the vendor they chose. I feel my current antivirus vendor has a superior product. This was once again confirmed to me by a recent thread I started.
I can say I'm still tracking down a networking issue. This issue ISN'T related to the beta. It's either a settings / IGGY issue or ZAP not interacting well with something on my machine. This was an issue occurring even with the current gold build. After I installed a new hardrive. I updated the router firmware if memory serves me correctly. I think ZAP and the firmware may not like each other. Or I have a setting needing tweaked in the router. My ZAP is setup properly from what I can see. And I've put in the latest Linksys firmware for my router. The open source firmware I was using I liked but may have been the problem. The machine runs smooth as glass when ZAP isn't installed. And just the router and KAV beta 5 are running. This unfortunately seems to be a problem many users see from time to time. I'm now having to troubleshoot it as well.
I can say if your running KAV beta 5 and turn on the antivirus in the ZAP beta. My machine locks up and has to be rebooted. So I would take the advice listed in the beta. To definitely uninstall competing products if your going to use the ZAP antivirus offering full time. Or at the very least make sure competing products are fully disabled. |

Is this new ZoneLabs Antivirus Suite beta something that at a future date replaces ZAP 4 or an entirely different product. Just curious as I have a two year update subscription with 431 days left on it? |

2 edits | reply to IGGY Iggy if you could pass along this suggestion, which I think you and others will find logical:
Any ZA Pro user notices sometimes the privacy protection interferes severely with a web site so you would normally have to and turn it off or exclude the site. I would love to see next to the sliders an on/off button for cookies/ads control, the reason is if you have adjusted the settings to your needs the sliders disappear and if you need to turn privacy off you have to reset the controls then move the slider down. A simple on off button would work wonders.
Also the reason I post this here and directly to you is I feel I have a better chance of being heard through this channel then using a suggestion for on the ZA site.

3 edits | reply to IGGY I also like to add, that even with the new beta ZA Pro handling of pop up windows (while having a large amount of browsers open 20+) is still sluggish at best. By pop up windows, I mean a secondary window not necessarily ads (usually using javascript in the link). Examples are web sites that launch a pic you want a larger version of in a secondary window.
Running XP Pro, system is clean and optimized. I have used ZA for a long time and I have seen this behavior often (on 2 systems) and this does not happen when privacy controls are off.
