Real is owned by AOL...

I wouldn't expect anything less from the AOL company...

Yeah really, AIM is made by AOL, every piece of software they make is going to be bloated. If someone was using aim and wanted me to message them, I personally would tell them to get on another messenger (yahoo or msn), dont want to install any aol garbage.

Real (RNWK) is not owned by AOL and AOL does not own a stake of any significance in RealNetworks Inc.

They didn't actually make the code for winamp, they only throw in some icons on install... The new winamp LITE 5.x is not bloated at all.

Still doesn't change the fact that they own it.

Nullsoft Inc. and its parent company, America Online, Inc., respect the intellectual property of others, and we ask our Content providers to do the same.
I believe that they only give some hosting space and money for the project. Does AOL client use winamp as it's media player? Last time I checked AOL was moving away for licensing to owning (switching from IE to gecko(?)/mozilla and winamp)

That also got my attention.

Speaking of streams, Winamp.com is also home to Winamp Radio. No advertisements. No useless DJ babble. Winamp Radio is pure unadulterated pirate radio. Of the people, for the people. These stations are brought to you by the amazingly powerful SHOUTcast technology.

AOL was suppose to switch from IE to Netscape when they got them instead they signed another agreement with MS.

AOL will never get out of the contract with IE. They'll keep resigning. Then they go sue and say that they are a monoply cause they don't allow another companies browser to come with Windows when you first get it. Correct me if I am wrong but back in ME it came with Netscape as well as IE. Also AOL came on the system regardless of who you got your system from.

AOL just wants something to bitch about and wants a away to get their money they are losing from ppl switching from their bull shit network to a REAL ISP.

Someone needs to make a system like AOL build it off something different then IE---if they wanna provide a difference----then charge less...

would be a great start up and a great way to compete with AOL.

But then again isnt that what Netscape Internet Service is for? a stripped down service of AOL thats cheaper? I'm actually suprised people arent moving to Netscape's service from AOL. But Netscape only bills Credit Card...AOL doesn't.

thats all of the companies that AOL owns under there name.
