| This would spell the death of Mozilla . . .
There is NO way Micro$oft would allow continued development of Mozilla, Firefox, Thunderbird and Camino. They compete directly with MS IE & Outlook.
. . . and another app I have grown to love . . . Winamp, which would fall by the wayside as Micro$oft touts it's Windows Media Player bloatware. -- The Rules of Spam | Maryland's New Anti-Spam Law Where are we going? And what's with the hand basket? |

| Mozilla popped into mind as soon as I read the article, but then again, I think Mozilla is a serperate organization so development can (and probably will) continue.
Its just that Netscape uses Mozilla in its browser and Netscape might go away..
I didn't think about winamp. That is going to really suck *cries* -- Help DSLR Claim 5th in SETI!! |

Only Winamp Version 2.9 or lower is good. Just save the install file and you won't have to worry about microsoft ruining it. -- Bush 2004 My site -- SBC DSL 1500/256 |

| I don't think MS has any interest in Netscape. Netscape is no longer a threat to IE. AOL discontinued development of Netscape, Netscape 7.1 was the final version of the browser. Netscape is now just a web portal and discount ISP.
If MS were to purchase AOL, they would still have no power over Mozilla. Mozilla is completly seperate and AOL has no power over them. They are able to use Gecko with their softwhare since it's open source. They already use Gecko for the AOL mac version and the compuserve client. |
