Maybe they are thinking like Ted Nugent, he wanted to buy Muzak just to destroy it(he was sick of hearing it in every elevator he got in).

Also what better than to buy your competitor At a cheap price.Then expand on it.Good business men know when to buy out the competition when they are hurting for a bargain of course.

I wonder if Time-Warner would be willing to dump Netscape into Microsoft's hands for a good sum of cash... Time Warner gets a ROI on the failed takeover from AOL and MS gets rid of competitor at the same time.
